Part A

Aditya Birla Group operates in 34 countries across the globe, is anchored by an extraordinary force of about 120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities and derives more than 50% of its revenue from its overseas operations.

Businesses under Aditya Birla Group have grown into global powerhouses in a wide range of sectors – metals, textiles, carbon black, telecom and cement. The Conglomerate touches millions of lives through its products and services.

Aditya Birla Group has impacted my life as an individual in many ways. Staying away from family is tough but unable to talk to your parents because of inconsistent signal connectivity is the worst thing that could happen. Thankfully I never faced such issues because I use Vodafone-Idea cellular which not only provides reliable signal connectivity but also gives me high-speed access to 4G data services anywhere and everywhere.

Ultra-tech cement was my family's preferred choice when we were building our house. It is the Aditya Birla Group who cares for us not only in good times but also during times of adversity. The Birla Sun life insurance covers all the major risks and where our dreams are their commitment. In times tranquil or turbulent the group stands with its customers with full support.

In a personal context, ABG has had a huge impact on my life, in ways both big and small. For instance, Pantaloons has been my go-to fashion brand for all casual and comfort apparel needs for years, and it’s not likely to change anytime soon. Moreover, I’m also brand loyal towards Louis Philippe, Van Heusen and Allen Solly whenever I need to shop for formal clothes due to its unparalleled collection of sizes and variants.

Aditya Birla Group is a conglomerate with a strong mission and vision and ABG stands with its customers in times tranquil or turbulent.

Part B

It was six months that I had started my professional career and I faced a significant challenge.

On a Friday night during a client call we received an ad-hoc analysis request by the client (in San Francisco), they wanted sales heat maps on a territory level till there end of day. I was supposed to go on a family get together the same night; it was a trade-off between professional and personal goals.

First, I relaxed myself and had a cup of coffee and then I started working with a clear and relaxed mind on the client deliverable. It took me 2 hours for the task with a calm and composed mind. I am sure with an unstable and upset mind it would have taken four hours for the same.

I learnt that with a peaceful mind the productivity and efficiency goes up and you enjoy and overcome even the challenging situations in life.

I contemplated the next day why did that situation arise because of lack of communication and collaboration between sub teams of the same team. I wanted to make an impact and improve the linkages between the sub teams and hence I approached my manager and suggested him to have regular cross teams catch ups to better co-ordinate the working of different groups. My suggestion was appreciated and every morning all the sub teams started meeting and discussing daily tasks.

I believe small steps in the right direction pave the way for greater efficiency and optimisation of processes. These small contributions when combined result in making a positive impact.
