Should I go down this road or that road is a question which always sits at the core of every challenge in a person’s life. Life is all about making a choice. As per popular belief the right choice will take you to the bed of roses while the wrong one will lead you to a path full of thorns. What is the problem with going on a path full of thorns? It is a difficult choice but that path is also leading somewhere and you never know what is waiting for you at the end of the road. So does something like a right choice even exists?
In my opinion giving up is the only wrong choice one can make in his life. Every choice is right as long as you own it and devote yourself fully to that. Even if the path is full of hurdles, optimism and self belief is the key to overcome any friction in life. If the results are not as per your expectations, that doesn’t mean you have failed rather it means that you were not successful. Being not successful is not the end of the road rather it is a lesson which stays on with a person as an asset forever. I faced a similar situation when I started my startup. We had a business idea and we started to make it possible. Whether our idea was a million dollar idea or not doesn’t matter, what really mattered was that we tried even though many people thought it was a waste of time. Ultimately we were not successful but still I am proud that I tried and learnt a lot in this journey like I overcame my hesitation of conversing with new people and a lot more. It was one of the main event of my life and it made me realize that being optimistic is the only way you can survive in this competitive world.
Throughout my life I have always fancied the life of an entrepreneur. They are the ones who face dilemmas and the quest of making a choice on daily basis. That is why I always believe in learning from journey of various corporate houses. One of the corporate house that has successfully inspired me to take difficult choices is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. (Also known as ABFRL) a unit of Aditya Birla Group (One of the most successful conglomerates of India).
Being a clothes shopaholic I was always fascinated by the products of brands like Louis Phillipe, Hackett London, Van Huesen and many more. But I was startled by the fact that all these brands are owned by ABFRL only. ABFRL is the bull of fashion industry. ABFRL serves every kind of consumer with the brands like Peter England, needs of consumers who demand fashion products at reasonable prices are served and with Louis Phillipe brand needs of quality conscious and brandholics consumers are satisfied. I always wondered why they created so many competitive brands to cut down sales of their own brands. But it is a business strategy where different brands are utilized to satisfy different needs of different consumers in different ways. ABFRL owns the competition. All these brands have unique story and brand image, even today many people are unaware of the fact that all these brands are owned by Aditya Birla Group. It was a difficult and risky decision to own competing brands but it turned out to be fruitful for ABFRL.
Personally I am a fan of Louis Phillipe. Wearing clothes of a brand like this kind a boosts my confidence when I stand among a group of people. Clothes from Louis Phillipe adds a tincture of rich class to a person’s personality which helps him to stand out from the crowd. The essence of Louis Phillipe relies in “the pursuit of excellence” and it kind of reflects the same in the personality of the person wearing clothes of Louis Phillipe Brand.
The story of ABFRL inspires taking tough choices and brands like Louis Phillipe are a gift to fashion market. One can really learn a lot looking at the journey and choices made by ABFRL which made it India's first billion-dollar pure-play fashion powerhouse with an elegant bouquet of leading fashion brands and retail formats.
