I was designated as a sales engineer in the company I was placed right after my graduation, where I had to provide the tecnical aspects of the product to the customer and also look after the installation process. In the installation process, company provide the manual to follow the steps. But as our company caters to the various part of country, the person installing the equipment facethe language problem due to which at the time of installation sometime we had to visit the place or if the place is far from the company then we had to resolve it over phone. In later period, the call during the time of installation increases. So, because of this I had to attend calls for the same and try to make them understand which consumed most of my time and I was unable to focus on the project lined up ahead.
So, after sometime while reading the manual i realised, what if we create a video which is so well formed that irrespective of language it could be understand by simply seeing it. I prepared a bit for the same and went to my manager and he was also very positive towards the same as he knew that installation process was creating an issue in coming projects.
So he went to the CEO of the company and approved the same. He also suggested to take help from the IT team and also we hired a guy for the job and I was leading the project and the result after 3 weeks was just surprising as the video formed was really very effective. Then we went to the CEO office and after seeing the video he appreciated our efforts. And soon we provided the video to our next client and the result was effective as I had received not a single call at the time of installation.
And then later the company made the video for all the product our company deal and require installation manual.
