Part: A
Life’s most wonderful gift is our parents, especially for me. Everyone talks about how mom loves you, how she cares, how she feeds you etc. But no one talks about what your dad is doing for you. He works hard so that we can get a roof, get the proper education and definitely live our life to the fullest. We never show him our love. That’s what Aditya Birla Group has done in some of his ventures. They have over 100 years of legacy. The Group is constantly providing us with such products that may not have direct influence on us, but indirectly they are part of our life. For example Birla Carbon present in every 2nd tire in the world, every 3rd aluminium can is made from novelis aluminium, world’s 3rd largest cellular network etc. For me, it was Ultratech Cement from Aditya Birla Group that we used to renovate our 100 plus year old house back in my hometown in 2015. When I and my uncle went to the market to purchase the cement for renovating our superannuated house, we came to know that there is a race going on among different brands to sell their product. The price war was going on. We went back home. It was now my task to come out with most suitable brand of cement. Like everyone use to do, I also chose the same path to Google it out. There I came to know the composition of cement of different brands which helped me in differentiating between Ultratech cement and other brands. And still today, my patriarchal house is standing strong. Thanks to Ultratech Cement and Aditya Birla Group.

To do MBA, that was always in my mind. But having no prior experience in the field of Management was stopping me to fulfill my ambition. But then one day I got that opportunity in the form of managing and organizing the event. During school days, I use to visit other schools for inter-school competitions. Me and my friends use to think that why our school is not organizing any event. So we decided to talk to the management of our school. They were happy that we have taken the initiative to organize our school’s cultural fest, but they put up the condition in front of us. The condition was, the school will provide you the same amount that you are going to bring from sponsorship. We agreed. They made me the head of the cultural fest. The toughest part was to collect the fund. So I created two different teams to go and talk to different sponsors and try to convince them. We use to mange this after school, so that we don’t miss our classes. In 15 days, we were able to gather the fund of Rupees 10, 00,000. We were very proud of us. Management also agreed to pay the equal amount, but then the teachers of our school protested against our idea, that it is going to disturb the routine of our school and they are neither going to help us nor they are going to be part of this. We felt if event is cancelled, our and our school’s reputation is going to hamper. As I was the head of the cultural fest, I felt that it was my duty to talk to them and convince them. Finally they agreed. It was an up-hill battle for me. It was the biggest challenge for me to complete what I have started. It was a wonderful event and we named it “DHUN”. After that event was ended, I was very clear that I want to go for MBA. And today I am part of one of country’s best business school i.e. Goa Institute of Management.
