My very first encounter with the name ADITYA BIRLA GROUP happened in 2011 when I watched the television commercial of IDEA (Presently VODAFONE IDEA). The underlying emotion of a person (who himself was unable to speak a word being a differently abled person) helping others in dealing with their language issues touched the very core of me back then. My inner self pushed me to know more about the group and my virtual journey with ADITYA BIRLA GROUP started then and there.
Its diversification from one business field to another while acing all of them had been an inspiration for me all the time.
On one hand journey of the group as a whole has motivated me every day to think and do big professionally whereas on the other hand introduction of ADITYA BIRLA SCHOLARSHIP by the group in memory of Late Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla, has taught me the most important lesson of my life i.e. One should never ever forget that there is always a way by which we can give back to the society in very simple terms.
Starting its journey with cotton trading in 1857, it has diversified itself into almost every field of business while contributing significantly to INDIA’s economic development and growth when I am writing this.
With a glorious history of 162 years in business, it synchronizes itself with its logo of THE RISING SUN and motivates me further to strive hard in an attempt to make a difference to the world with whatever small I could do.
During school days, I used to participate in various extra-curricular activities but from class 11th onwards, I started to concentrate on my IIT-JEE preparation and stopped participating in these activities. As a result, when I joined college a fear developed within me and I hesitated to participate in the events happening in college. Few months passed like this and I didn't participate in any event. Then, I decided to let go my fears and talked to my seniors regarding this. They encouraged me to pursue my interests too along with studies and told me that this is where you will get to learn about things other than academics. Later, I joined the Sports Club, participated in several events and went to some colleges to promote our cultural fest. I also won a silver medal in Freestyle (50 m), a swimming event at IIT Kanpur representing my college, which was one of the biggest achievements of my life in swimming competitions.
Also, during my college days, Tata Steel was the first company to come for summer recruitment for our branch at campus. Only 5 out of the total 69 candidates made it to the final interview round after clearing the written examination and Group Discussion. Tata Steel was known for having an affinity towards candidates with higher grades and I was the only 7-pointer among the 5 students. Though I was slightly apprehensive, I gave my best and ultimately, I was the only one to get the internship offer and consequently, the placement
offer from one of the premier recruiters at our campus. This made me realize the importance of self-confidence and perseverance and my approach towards life changed significantly.
