XIM (Xavier Institute of Management), the name itself reflects the unique X factor that the college, its campus and its students have. Situated in the city of temples, Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha, it is one of the oldest premier B schools of the country. Xavier University has two campuses, an old one and a new one. XIMB is the old campus of Xavier University accommodating all Business Management students, which is located exactly in the heart of busiest areas in Bhubaneswar surrounded by restaurants, cafes and malls. To an incredulous eye, the campus of XIMB is one that is baffling as well as humbling. Everybody doing their things, running for classes, going for business talks all dressed up in business suits. XIMB campus is like one roof having so many brilliant minds together which is enough to make one feel more enthused to work on themselves and be better, all hostels being inside one campus facilitate the bond between juniors and seniors and give the right kind of company a person needs especially juniors. Also, our campus witnesses different cultures and diversity. Students from all over India join XIMB and become a part of it. Different festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm. The beautiful infrastructure, auditorium, academic building, hostels, lush green fields, big playground, indoor courts, gym, X-Café (night mess) is what our second home consists of. In initial days many induction programs take place which includes welcome, introduction sessions, ice-breaking sessions, batch meets, group discussion and personal interview sessions conducted in the auditorium. To the rigorous timetable of students, the main relief that something gives is the night mess. It is the savior in days of exams and presentations especially for nocturnal ones. Truth be told the corporate world is far from nurturing or warm. It is, in fact, cold and stiff, and frankly, slightly workaholic. But at the end of the day we are all connected to each other, in a strange way that’s all because of this campus only.
Which ABG company would I like to work for and why?
From the very beginning I have my interest in marketing domain. So, taking this into picture I would like to go for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail. ABGFR is one the leading companies in the world of marketing with their top brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, etc. Their stores like Pantaloons and Van Heusen would give me an opportunity to understand different marketing strategies, communicate with different people, learn customer behavior and other aspects of marketing. As a fresher with great determination and enthusiasm and having interest in marketing it will be the best decision for me.
