Aditya Birla Group is a name that undoubtedly needs no introduction. Being the global conglomerate that it is, the Aditya Birla group covers almost all the sectors ranging from fashion to cement to financing to even chemicals. But, it’s not just limited to this. It has and is presently making significant contributions in areas such as health-care, education, the girl child, sustainable livelihood, women empowerment projects, infrastructure and espousing social reform.
Considering the relevance of the brand in my life, the list is sure to not end soon. Aditya Birla Group is a name that touches our lives in more than one way through its various sub-brands under different sectors. But I would like to use this opportunity to talk about the aspect with regard to which I have had the longest association with the brand.
Fashion is something each one of us defines for ourselves. Right from the clothes we wear to the accessories we choose, these are what reflect our tastes and defines our personality. Pantaloons as a brand stands out because it combines numerous brands under one roof. It satisfies the requirement of both affordability and variety. Why I have been attached to this brand for so long is the fact that this is where I can find everything starting from fashionable work wear to affordable evening gowns and dresses and everything that lies between. And although it is an Indian brand, Pantaloons goes beyond the Indian styles and designs and serves a collection which also includes brands like Izabel London.
The next brand I want to talk about is Liva which I see as more of a daily wear brand. We have always thought that if it is fashionable, it has to be uncomfortable. This is exactly where Liva comes in. Fashion does not have to be chosen over comfort! Liva is a brand which stands for guilt free fashion. With Liva, fashion remains not only something about looking good, but it’s also about actually feeling good while doing the same! It’s about making fashion your friend! With Liva, fashion feels as good as it looks! The fabric used is extremely soft, flowy and comfortable which keeps us going through the day without being pulled back symbolising the defiance of all conventional norms. The most appealing aspect of this brand is that the fabric is man-made from natural fibres so it is 100% natural and eco-friendly!
Back then when I was born my father was posted in Talcher, Odisha. I began my school life there and joined St. Mary’s school. From good teachers to a environment for holistic development, this school gave me everything. When I was in class 8 I had to change my school for the first time when my father got transferred. It was very difficult for me to leave everything and start afresh in a new place. But, this was not to be the last time. I joined DPS Rourkela 10 months before my Class 10 board exams and despite that I was one of the highest scorers with CGPA 10. ‘Change is the only constant’. It couldn’t be truer. Despite shifting to Delhi 7 months before my 12th boards I was the highest scorer of my school in the Science stream with 94.8%. As a result of these experiences, I not only became lot more adaptable, but I also learnt to persevere through difficulties to achieve my goals. With this score I cleared the cutoff for economics at Kamala Nehru College, Delhi University and I decided to pursue my graduation in economics. While I was a part of NSS, I also participated in voluntary blood donation camp in my first year and was a part of the fine arts society in my second year. But, a significant challenge I faced was in my 1st semester. Unlike me, most of my classmates had studied economics since Class 11 and I soon realized that there was a significant void I had to fill in a short time.. So, I started working hard and as a result I was the 3rd highest scorer in my 1st semester examination. This experience taught me that though one might be apprehensive of stepping out of one’s comfort zone, if one is willing to put in the required efforts, one can achieve the improbable!
