MBA Life comes with lots of fun and loads of experience. One such experience which I had and that can be cherished forever was my internship with Kalpataru.
My internship role in Kalpataru Ltd was related to various BTL activities in boosting the sales. I got to know the functioning of the real estate sector as a whole. I also understood the concept of channel partners and their role in the real estate. I also learnt the skills of building rapport with the prospects while dealing with the existing clients and intermediate networks.
During my internship I got to visit various residential projects of Kalpataru to get a detailed knowledge about it and not only this I also got the opportunity to visit various competitors’ projects as a part of my competitor analysis. I was also a part of their pre-sales teams wherein I got to interact with the customers as well as the channel partners.
My mentor at Kalpataru was very supportive and always encouraged me to improve my skills. Despite his busy schedule and prior commitments, he always guided me. I was given an opportunity to work in several domains but my mentor was always there for any help. He taught me the functioning of the sales and pre-sales team in detail. As an intern, I was fortunate enough to gain marketing experience with this company and had an opportunity to work under established professionals.
This internship prepared me in a number of ways from working within deadlines, to applying practical marketing skills. I also got an insight how things work in real estate and how to network with different levels of people and work in coordination with them. I also learnt an in-depth understanding of the real estate. In future I will be able to handle deadlines well and apply my marketing knowledge to the best of my abilities. Also whatever I was taught in the college by my professors, I was able to relate them well during my internship.
I had doubts about my roles and responsibilities but thankfully each day bought a new learning experience for me. I got an opportunity to handle multiple projects and strive within a high-paced work environment. My weekly reviews also helped me in getting a clear understanding of the working of the company and my role. It also helped me in getting a clear view of the plan of action of the next week.
The most difficult part of marketing is to apply your previous knowledge and come out with better solutions. For that one should always take notes while you are being instructed by your seniors. This is a very good habit and helps a lot. One should always ask questions in order to clarify one’s doubts. Asking good and sensible questions always helps in your career. Every intern needs to get out of their comfort zone initially and understand what work and role suits them the most.
The exposure and the levels of experience I gained from my internship in Kalpataru was incredible and highly learning.
