How many mock tests to target?
The ideal number of mocks that one should appear can differ for different aspirants. If you are a repeater, you should aim for higher. For beginners, you can target according to your capacity. However, If I had to suggest, you should aim for around 30 mock tests. If you are a repeater, aim for 40+ mock tests since you are already done with the syllabus.

Why should I appear for these many mocks?
The one word for this question is “Analysis”. The more mocks you appear, the more mocks you will analyze. The more you analyze, the more you will know your strengths, weaknesses, and what is working out. Analysis also helps you see patterns. You might notice that you always struggle with a certain type of question. Knowing this allows you to adjust your study plan and practice more in those areas. It also builds your confidence because you start to see improvement over time.

The Importance of Analysis
Mock tests are like practice matches before the real game. They help you get a feel for the actual CAT exam. My Personal Experience
In my CAT’23 Preparation, I appeared for 47 mocks overall and documented each mock carefully and comprehensively. Appearing for 47 mocks gave me confidence. I would like to share an anecdote. One day before the CAT 2023 exam, I was on a call with one of my best friends. He asked me how are you feeling? Are you anxious? My answer was not at all. I have appeared for 47 mocks. CAT is just another mock. My strategies are ingrained in my nerves. The pattern I tried and tested so many times made me confident that I could easily face and attempt it. Therefore, appearing for 30+ mocks will give you confidence and reduce anxiety.
