Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?

The Aditya Birla Group is a continuation of the Birla legacy that has built free India and in doing so it has impacted not only the current generation but fathers and grandfathers. I know that my family has been a part of the Aditya Birla Group since the construction of our family house. Located in Gwalior it is a humble house but has lasted generations to which I would credit the constructors and the raw material i.e. the cement. Ultra Tech Cement has been the foundation of the family house and its strong built has nurtured generations. I have so many fond memories of my cousins and I playing cricket, celebrating Diwali and picking fruits from the garden.

I have now been living on my own and for all my clothing needs I go to Pantaloons. This has been my go-to stop since my parents took me there when I was a child. The graphics t-shirts have always been my favourite and the modest prices made it accessible for a middle-class family like mine. Most of my credit card rewards points go in getting pantaloon coupons because I know that they can satisfy my needs.

I have not always been the most confident person, as a child I was overweight and this continued through school and college. When it was finally time to say good bye to my school and it was the time of farewells. Looking good is a must in farewells and I am happy that my dad’s wedding suit from Van Heusen fit we so well and that my farewell pics are still my preferred social media profile image.

In college the toughest time is placements and you need something comfortable and good looking to get you through the gruelling days. The long waiting hours need something comfortable and something that made you look good to leave an impression. I am happy to say that my Louis Philppe suit was all that and more and it got me my first job.

How have you made an impact?

My father had a job which made him relocate from time to time because of which I had the great opportunity to live in the US for 3 years. I completed my 4th, 5th and 6th standard there and the perspective it gave me is unique. I have had some of the best experiences there and I still talk about them today. Some of the things I don’t talk about is the racism I faced there. As a teenager in middle school I was often ridiculed and called “Gandhi Gandhi”. I was fortunate enough to have a great teacher Mrs. May who helped me adjust to the new lifestyle in the US. She helped me get on par with my English and motivated me to try new things and work hard at them. It is because of her that within a few months I have moved from reading short stories to challenging myself to complete all the Harry Potter books in a month.

I have switched six schools in my lifetime. I have had to change and meet new people make new friends every couple of years and this was tough for me as I was not very confident given my obese body. This also came with a few preconceived notions about fat people, one of which is that he wouldn’t be good in physical activities. Boy were they wrong. It was always a pleasure for me to see the shock on my friends face when they first saw me sprint. I wasn’t the fastest but I was a podium holder. I was a part of my school football team, cricket team and athletics team which was the best reply I could give to all the people who teased me in school.
