Aditya Birla Group or more commonly known as “ABG” has always been a part of our lives in some way or the other, in the form in the form of Grasim suiting, Peter England Shirt or calling your caring and loved ones over the Idea network or staying with your loved ones safely and peacefully in a house built by Aditya Birla Cement. Thus, we see ABG has always been a part of our life.
Getting a good job and then going to the office in my best attire has always been my liking. During my childhood days, I have often heard of the shirt and t-shirt from “Peter England”. It was a buzz of the market. Anyone wearing “Peter England” was viewed as someone who belonged to the elite class. So, I always thought that I will also one day buy a “Peter England” shirt and proudly wear it when I pass through the road. It was the year of 2015; I had received my joining date from a multinational company. Attire in college and in a job are completely different, so I thought of getting some good formal shirts that I could wear during my first day at the office. When I went into the market, I suddenly saw a advertise featuring “Peter England”. My thoughts got revived and went ahead and bought two pairs of shirts with Peter England written on it. I felt proud and nostalgic about my childhood days and with a smile I said to myself – “One dream ticked off my bucket list”.
ABG has been a part of Indian Culture way before the Indian Independence. It first started off is cotton trading operations at Rajasthan as Birla Group of Companies led by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla. Post that there has been a large number of events that have taken place, such as, incorporation of Hindalco and Grasim. Hindalco has been one of the leading manufacturers of copper and aluminium products which are much needed in a developing country like India for growth in infrastructure. The company has also made commendable jobs in the filed of agriculture sector, ABG had installed the first Gas based fertilizer plant at Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh. As ABG was diversifying it got its logo changed so that it reflects its diverse nature. One of the biggest mergers happened in the year of 2018, when Idea and Vodafone merged to form India’s largest telecom company.
Thus, we see that we will find ABG at some or the other corner of our life and for me it will always remain special.
Part B:
A leader is a person who gives direction to his followers, he is a person who takes on all the heat so that his followers are not harmed, he is the one who works and care for the team. But the foremost thing is that a leader must take on all the challenges that come to his way.
Every challenge that you face, makes you more competent. As Swami Vivekananda once said – If you do not face problems in your life then probably you are not on the right path. In my life there were a number of challenging situations and I have always tried to fight it up. When I joined my first job, I always thought that how will I perform better. It was my first project and I was the most junior team member. The project was very critical, the client had already cautioned us about it. The project transition from another third-party vendor was a very tough job. Everything was working fine but suddenly our team manager had to take leave for a week because of his personal exigencies. My manager trusted me very much and gave me the charge to lead the team. With the just a year experience it was too much of a task for me. However, my hard work and the guidance from my manager helped me to successfully complete the transition and the work made me visible to the top management. But the most important part was that I learnt a lot and this told how a leader should behave. Being an MBA aspirant when I came to the present college that I studying, when I was being asked what are your qualities, I said “Leadership”, as my first quality. I explained interviewers how I learnt from my past project and today I can proudly say that I am pursuing my MBA at one of the leading colleges of India.
