Back in April of 2016, I sat in a pensive mood at work thinking about how my life would change in the next two months. I was both excited and nervous as I planned to leave for my higher studies in the US. Perusing my higher studies at an esteemed institute had always been my dream. Little did I know that in the next few minutes fate would tell me that it had other plans in store for me.
As I went deeper into wishful thinking, I received the jolting information about my father’s heart attack. These were testing times for our family. My father underwent open heart surgery and was on the road to recovery. But then it was my turn, I met with an accident and had to undergo surgery for my right thumb. Aditya Birla Health Insurance came in handy during these times.
With all that happened, I found a new friend – Adversity. It taught me lessons which were instrumental for the position I have achieved today. Sometimes you may think that you have hit rock bottom and there is nothing below it. The fact is that there is a lot more under it that you don’t see. But there is also a lot more above it as well.
Although I had to cancel the possibility of further studies at that moment, the change in my mindset helped me to endure tough times and push myself back up again. Like the Birla Group faced challenges in a socialist Indian economy but still persisted to establish world leading brands in India post liberalization, with a relentless not to give up attitude I eventually reached a point where I can proudly say that I am a student at MDI, Gurgaon. I thus stand testament to say – “Adversity, my dearest teacher”.
Aditya Birla Group (ABG) being a big conglomerate, has been part of my life from childhood to adulthood. The instance mentioned above is just one of may appearances the ABG group has made in my life. I remember one particular instance as a kid where my father took me to the construction site of my house and I saw the trademark yellow bags of UltraTech Cement lying around. Starting from being a key ingredient that made my home ABG has made its appearance felt all through my life. The Freshwrapp foils made my lunch box at school feeling like I was having a feast at home. I was gifted a mobile phone after my 10th standard. Like everybody in my family my service provider was Vodafone and has remained so till date. To make a fashion statement in college Allen Solly came to the rescue. And finally, the suits that I bought for my MBA came from VanHeusen and Peter England. Having a wide portfolio, ABG has impacted and significantly enhanced my life at every stage. I am sure it will continue to do so and I look forward to it.
