“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is, something inside you that is

greater than any obstacles.”

High school is arguably the best four years of a person’s life. Individuals are growing,

learning and preparing to venture in to the reality of the world known as adulthood. However,

whether people make the best or worst of these years will determine if it really is the greatest

time of their life or not. In order to get the most out of high school as one can, one must learn not

to care what others think about them-which is the most valuable lesson I’ve learned in high

school.

An obstacle that I have dealt with in my life is shyness. Ever since I was a young kid, I

have always been very shy in multiple situations that were, whether it was public speaking,

greeting somebody, or asking for help in a store; I would try to hide inside of myself. This made

my life bit difficult.

During my sophomore year of high school, I eventually grasped the concept that it

doesn’t really matter what anybody thought of me. With this new found attitude, I was able to

walk the halls with ease, talk to new people, and not worry about this problem as much. Finally,

in my final year, I was able to branch off and make new friends by myself. I no more cared if

somebody thought I was odd or different, because everybody is unique in their own way.

Although some may have always been able to do such simple tasks, they were much

more difficult for me and now I take pride in having overcome my shyness- one of the biggest

obstacles of my life. I did not stop myself at this, but at my Graduation College, I ended up being

the Batch representative. The responsibilities that come with this position challenges me every

day, but I face them head-on! Speaking in public, meeting new people, taking decisions has

become a day to day activity. Thus, challenging the problems and facing them makes us strong,

is what I have learned!
