From a small town in Rajasthan – Pilani, a local tradesman started growing out of his roots and ventured into cotton exporting from Mumbai to England and other countries. That man was Shiv Narayan Birla. Little did he knew that this small step he took 158 years back would create a group as big as Adtiya Birla. Today ABG is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate behind TATA Group and RIL.ABG reported revenue of approximately US$44.3 Billion in year 2018.
Any sector you wish to explore ABG is at the heart of it. Spread across 35 countries and having more than 120000 employees worldwide, The Aditya Birla Group is active in 14 industry sectors and has achieved global and national leadership in several businesses.
Starting with fashion, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL) has touched millions of lives including mine. Growing up I have been able to attach myself to the fashion powerhouses like Luis Philip, Van Heusen, Peter England, Allen Solly, Pantaloons, and Planet Fashion. For as long as I can remember I have been visiting these stores for daily wear, formal wear and casual wear; Van Heusen being my personal favorite. Even the sheets in my home were always from the century cotton.
Coming on to telecom industry, Vodafone and Idea Limited is now the leading telecom provider in India and having personally used idea services as my first mobile network brings back many memories. If we talk about Cement the first name which comes to mind in every household is UltraTech cement. With a market reach of more than 80%,it is the largest manufacturer of cement in India and runs in the veins of most of the houses including my own.
From fashion to comfort to network to strength ABG has always been a consistent part in my life and countless others. And i hope it maintains its consistency in the many years to come.
