The Section War:
After the formal classes start, the battle of creativity, and sportsman spirit begins. This week-long event entails everything. It tests your literary creativity through Section Magazines and Oratory competition. Fashion show, dance and music competitions assess your artistic abilities, while activities like a fitness challenge test your physical mettle. But the most-awaited and interesting event remains the Sledge Fest. Each section uses their creativity to troll the other sections, but only to make it more exciting and fun. Ultimately the Section War concludes with a Grand Gala Night filled with lots of music and dance.
Kill The Quarandom:
The students of IIM Shillong never give in when it’s about having fun and creating memories. Recently, the college started calling people back to campus. As per the COVID norms, students are required to stay in quarantine for 14 days. To save these souls from the boredom of staying locked, the Cultural Committee organized three days of events filled with many games and fun activities. Students were thoroughly engaged with these activities and won many exciting prizes. The pain of not being able to roam around on campus was duly compensated with this event.
Durga Pujo and Dandiya Night:
We love to celebrate all the festivals with tremendous joy and zeal. When Navratri begins, we invite Maa Durga on campus with all the colors of the festival. Students perform the puja rituals and present heart-warming musical performances.
The last day of Navratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm. A grand Dandiya Night is organized. Students dress up in beautiful ethnic wear and bring out their best dance moves.
Diwali Night:
This year's Diwali was special, #PehliDiwali!
It was the first Diwali on the new campus, and it was also the first Diwali for all the first-year students. Diwali was celebrated both on campus and in virtual mode. We played games like Tambola, and different fun Quizzes, we had a movie night, we had a splendid DJ night, and to add the spice, we also had Confessions’ segment! Overall, the night was fun and charged up with ethnicity, games, music, and dance.
Folks, this is just the tip of the iceberg, the events that we have witnessed so far in the current year. The year still withholds many exciting events such as Kopda Cup, Yearly Golf Tournament, etc. We, at IIM Shillong, believe in “all work no play, makes the life dull” philosophy, and thus no moment is spared from being converted into a worthwhile memory.
