Overcoming Challenges - TAPMI

Among the many challenges I have faced during my life, the challenge of being an introverted person in this happening and highly active world is the biggest challenge. For an extroverted person, starting a conversation with a stranger is a casual activity but for an introverted person it is a huge task.

I am a person who doesn’t open up unless I know a person very well. It has always been a problem to approach someone and also being perceived as the one who can’t be approached.  I had a close-knit group of friends with whom I’d share everything, but outside that circle I was a shy, timid girl who doesn’t talk much. This would lead to a lot of stereotyping and make me go back into my shell. It is not understood unless it is experienced.

I have tried different ways to overcome this and fit into this extroverted world until I gradually realised that it was just an inherent character and can’t be changed with any external methods. I gave up the effort of trying to fit in and started being myself. It was in this process I learned how to be more self-confident and understood that every one of us is unique in our own way and it doesn’t really matter if you are an introvert or extrovert if you are good at what you do. I’ve stopped treating it as a weakness and started working on my strengths. It allowed me to look at this world from a different perspective.
