Part A : Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
The Aditya Birla group is one of the largest business conglomerates of India. What started as a jute manufacturing company in 1919, is now a multi product corporation across different business sectors.
It has undoubtedly played one of the key factors in my life. Right from the making of the foundation structure of my house which still stands strong, to building Mumbai’s pride – Bandra Worli sea link, it completely astonished me with it’s diverse range of products in providing me with network services which I have had a pretty good experience except at times have faced few network issues.
Struggling to find a good set of formals, I walked in to the nearest store of Peter England and purchased my first set of business formals. It made me feel confident when I wore the business formals. The finish and the quality of its product’s is excellent. It made me realize how a cement manufacturing company made it big in clothing industry as well! At that point, it made me realize how ABG played a big part in my life in so many ways.
After giving a stunning performance in consumer durable, now it’s showcasing its strength in the financial sector with Birla sunlife mutual funds. When I started working as an Article in CA firm, I could invest some small amounts in the mutual fund of ABG which has given me good returns. I have also invested in the equity shares of AB capital share which at times have fluctuated but knowing that the fundamentals of company are pretty strong, I am optimistic that it would bounce back really well.
With its determination and dedication, ABG has put itself in the league of the Fortune 500 and generates a major part of its income from international market which makes me feel proud about my country having a good international stand. I am not only a loyal customer for its clothes but also aspire to be a part of this seven decade long legacy and learn from their mottos and gain some of their teachings into myself so as to help me grow as an individual. ABG is not just a company but a nation’s pride.
Part B : How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions.
Goal setting forms key part in an individual’s life. After completing my Board examinations, I stood at a crossroads with varied option to pursue and now was the time to undertake some serious goal setting but I was casual in my approach and wasn’t actually sure of deciding the field that I wanted to be in. Since most of my friends had joined science stream, and most of my family members are also from this stream, I decided to join it without a proper evaluation of the same. After couple of exams I could feel the heat and pressure on myself. I regretted that I did not do my proper homework and realised that I should have focused on my career and should have taken an informed decision. I was stuck in a situation where I could not even backout. After barely clearing my finals, I knew it well that this wasn’t my cup of tea and I decided to switch to another stream. Then the tough moment came of convincing my family members that I could be doing much better in other stream. Finally after convincing them, I changed my field to commerce stream and I found my confidence back. Immediately in my first exam, I topped my class and that gave me a huge sigh of relief. I had re-instated confidence and self belief in myself.
Although, technically speaking, I had wasted my year, I felt that it was one good investments in life, off course which came at a cost as one year of my life had elapsed. I was depressed initially thinking that family and friends would ridicule me, but instead, they stood by my side when I needed them the most.
It made me learn lot of things in life. The major lessons learnt were not to take things for granted in life, to do proper evaluation before taking any decisions, to stay true to yourself, to back yourself up, to be persistent and know the importance of family and close friends.
I have come to realize that, most people get discouraged, resists change and experience failure at some point in their lives. Sometimes, what happens to us is not our choice, but how we use that to shape our life is our choice. I decided to learn invaluable lessons from these experiences and still remain open to learn from new experiences in life.
