Whenever, we hear the name of Aditya Birla Group then lots of brands come into our mind. Birla is not just brand, it is the part of life and if we look clearly then it seems life is incomplete without its brand. Aditya Birla Group is in so many products that we don’t even know the product we are using is of Birla. It is an Indian multinational conglomerate and headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. It has its presence all over the world, it operates in 35 countries and has 120000 employees worldwide. It was founded by Seth Shiv Narayan Birla in 1857. Current chairman of this group is Kumar Mangalam Birla and CEO is Dr. Santrupt Misra.
Aditya Birla Group plays very important role in everyone’s life. It is presented everywhere and we are unaware of that we are linked with Birla. UltraTech cement we use in construction is come from UltraTech Cement Limited which is subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group. For instance, 0.1 million mt of UltraTech cement was used into the construction of Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea link. There are plenty of people who don’t even know their home is made of Birla’s cement.
Nowadays, normally every person has vehicle. Birla Carbon which is another subsidiary of Birla makes carbon black additives which is nanoparticles which make your tires safer. They are world leader of this products and has production capacity of over 2 million tonnes in 12 countries across five continents. Another Subsidiary is Grasim Limited. As we all know how important insulator is in electrical sector. Grasim Industries is the world’s 4th largest producer of insulators. It means the electricity we are using also has contribution of Birla Group. Grasim was starts as a textiles manufacturer. It is holding Jaya Shree Textiles and Brand- Linen Club companies. Today, it is a leading global player in VSF and the largest chemicals (Chlor-Alkali-s) player in India.
Almost everybody has travelled by railway. A large share of the copper requirement of Indian Railways is fulfilled by Birla Copper. Hindalco Industries Limited is another subsidiary of Birla Group which is metal company. It is the world’s largest aluminium rolling company and is also a leading producer of copper. It has variety of products like aluminium extrusions, flat rolled, foil & packaging, copper cathodes and precious metals etc. Hindalco aluminium is used to make cover glass for smartphones. We don’t even know we are using cloth of Birla’s brand. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail limited is a part of $44.3 billion Aditya Birla Group. Their brands as follow: Pantaloons, People, Plant Fashion, Ralph Lauren, Skult, Style Up, VanHeusen, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Peter England, The Collective, Hackett, Forever 21, Simon Carter, Ted Baker and American Eagle etc. Vodafone Idea Limited is an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership. It is the leading telecom service provider in India and second largest globally.
Aditya Birla Group is so big and massive that we have to use product of Birla directly or indirectly. It is everywhere from your clothes to mobile. The group has interests in viscose staple fiber, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. They have acquired whole world by their products with maintaining good quality of products. It will be very difficult to live without Birla’s contribution in life so Aditya Birla Group is big and important in life.
