I being a Mechanical Engineering student was highly passionate about automobiles and

motorsports. I always dreamt of being a part of the Formula Student series. For those who don’t

know, Formula Student series is a competition where students from various engineering college

design and manufacture a single seated prototype formula one race car. These cars compete

with each other in various design analysis, business presentation and dynamic events. The

engineering college I got admission in, had never participated in such kind of event, in fact,

students and professor had just a blur idea about the event. Initiating this activity was itself a

tricky task, as it faced severe resistance from department and college internally. Once initiated

I noticed that the task was way more difficult than what I thought of. It seemed to be impossible

for me to even clear the qualifying quiz for that event. It was necessary to build a team or an

organization to initiate the activity. I with two of my friends started searching for students who

had similar passion what we had. After a month of hunting, we could build a team of 8 students

highly passionate and willing to work hard to achieve the goal. We initiated the activity, allotted

a set of task and responsibilities to every individual and started working on it. Going ahead we

cleared the qualifying quiz ranking 6th all over India. After this success, it was time for

Designing and Manufacturing the car. For students it wasn’t easy, we needed to gain a lot of

knowledge, financial support and dedicate a hefty amount of time working on it. As the activity

got a lot of popularity on the campus, many students started to join the team and soon we were

a team of 22 Engineers.

Those were the days when the team empowered with highly dedicated individuals, passionate

and creative minds and a hunger to achieve the goal brought the dream into a reality which

once seemed impossible to achieve. We successfully made the Car, represented our college

team at Buddha International Circuit, New Delhi securing a rank of 36th among 150 teams.

The above days in my life taught me the value of Teamwork, work ethics, Leadership, and

dedication to work. It taught a lesson that when a group or team work hard with an aim to

achieve a common goal then nothing is impossible to achieve.
