Our ability to handle life’s challenges is a measure of our strength of character – Les Brown

The career, I choose is going to live with me throughout my life and education, I acquire will help to achieve my career goals. This belief encouraged me to work hard and keep myself involved in academics and extra-curricular activities.

During my BTech, I participated in the National level Student Formula Car Racing competition organized by SUPRA SAE India. Our team had to conceptualize and design a racing car. We presented our design and cleared all the tests successfully needed to qualify for the final race (Endurance Test). In addition to the design presentation, I was responsible for the business presentation. In the competition, we won the endurance test and secured two more awards. This competition sharpened my Problem-Solving ability and groomed my negotiation as well as leadership skills. Since it was in my final year, I
also had to pay attention to my academics. Juggling all together, I learned to effectively manage time while prioritizing tasks. Participating in national level college competitions gave me exposure, which improved my overall personality significantly.

My brother wanted to pursue event management along with his B.Com. But my father wanted him to pursue Chartered Accountant/ Company Secretaries. There used to be regular arguments between both of them and eventually a rift was seen. As an elder child, I had to diffuse the situation. I analysed my brother’s strengths, realized that he has the ability to be successful in event management but does not have the aptitude for financial studies. I made my father aware of the career opportunities in the field of event management and how my brother’s skill sets aligned with the said field. Implored to give him some time to prove himself. Simultaneously, I told my brother that our parents' concern is our stability, so we should make them proud by performing well in anything we do. In the end, the differences between them were sorted out with everyone satisfied.

In the future, I want to be a successful investment banker. Since childhood, I have an inclination towards the numbers. Robert Arnott rightly said that “In investing, what is comfortable is rarely profitable.” This belief encouraged me to work hard and keep myself motivated in Investment Banking and Private Equity domains during my internship at the Financial Service firm. I have worked as a Summer Associate for two months and successfully executed 9-10 projects for various the United States and Europe based clients. My projects included investment screening, business development, creating industry research reports, conducting financial analysis, valuations, investor pitch, and performing merger consequence analysis. I could not be more ecstatic to receive this opportunity of a lifetime.
