Every big company starts with a vision to change the world as we see it today and model it towards the future of our dreams, but many fail along the way to stay on this path to change and those that redefine the way we live our daily lives. In 1857, one such company emerged with a vision to change the way we go around our lives. Being from a city such as Gwalior which has a history of being associated with Aditya Birla Group by way of being the birthplace of the textile brand Grasim, which helped kickstart the process of setting up manufacturing plant around the city and creation of specific industrial areas near the city. Many other Textile manufacturing plants were set up following the example of Grasim. In a way the growth of manufacturing sector of Gwalior owes its origin to Aditya Birla Group which helped the people get employment in a post-independence India and led to Gwalior becoming one of the biggest Industrial hubs in Central India. In a constantly changing and rapidly evolving world we live in today Education and Innovation become an Indispensable part of our everyday lives, yet it is exactly in these areas where a vast number of populations globally continues to suffer. I have always been of the view that for India to stand among one of the Global Superpowers the key component required is the eradication of Illiteracy among the Indian population. Education is said to be the key which unlocks the door of opportunities for children to grow and escape the cycle of poverty. I enrolled in a program called Global Volunteer by AIESEC where I had to teach underprivileged children of the age group 9-14 years old about my Culture and Elementary level English to help them compete globally and explore beyond their surroundings, English has become a global language and it has become indispensable in this globalized world to have the ability to understand and speak English. To my surprise out of a class of 100 students only 2-3 could speak or write English. I became determined to help these children understand the importance of education and its impact on their lives, but since their native language was different from mine and they didn’t understand English, we had to think of a different way to make them understand and be interested in learning. We developed interesting workshops wherein we would help them learn by creating games which would help them understand basic grammar and elementary English. We made sure to incorporate hand gestures to help them better understand and helped them develop curiosity to learn. At the end of my Program everyone in the class was able to read as well as write English. This inspired me to focus on education as a catalyst for growth and development and helping change as many lives as I can.
