I was working with Accenture Solutions Pvt Ltd after completing my B.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation. So my life in the IT industry was initially difficult. The technology was new to me and my entire team was onshore. I had difficulty in understanding the functionalities yet I was expected to complete my deliverables on time.
Initially I felt like giving up but I did not. Instead I decided to give it my best shot. I requested my onshore team members to give me trainings and explain the concepts to me. I stretched and stayed in office for long hours to match their time zone and get a proper understanding. This helped me a lot and increased my endurance.
Very soon, I was able to meet the expectations and even took up responsibilities apart from them. When a new team member joined offshore I took up the responsibility of providing him the entire knowledge transition. I helped him with his doubts and queries. This gave me the confidence that I can pick up quickly and lead a team when needed. In the same appraisal cycle my efforts were appreciated and I was awarded the best performer of the quarter and I was given a promotion too.
So this was a major challenge I faced, yet I did not give up and made a difference in my team's performance.
