The Aditya Birla Group is the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate. It has a presence in almost all industries and has touched the lives of innumerable people across its rich legacy of 162 years. The group has played a key foundational role in building the modern India by providing high quality material to various other corporates. Thus even though none of the infrastructure projects highlight the name of the group, it is known by all that at the very core of each project is the concrete provided by Ultratech Cement. Thus what India is today for a lot of reasons can be accredited to the Aditya Birla Group. While this has been the scenario on the macro level, the group has worked immensely on the micro level with the underprivileged.
My interaction with the group on a much more dynamic level has been with its Fashion Brands. Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Peter England, Van Heusen have all been the brands that I have been using for the past few years. These brands have redefined fashion for many years. The retail outlets of these brands have a wide network such that the outlets of all of these brands are at a walking distance from my home. For someone like me who is as lazy as sloth when it comes to shopping, the presence of these stores at a walking distance has proven to be a saving grace for me in a lot of situations.
Another brand which has had quite a presence in my home from the group is Freshwrapp. I remember my mother always specifically asking me to get Freshwrappp foils. When I asked her why was she so particular about it she would reply that it was the best. Thus, the group has impacted my life for quite a long period, right from my childhood till today.
At the core of human life lies the fundamental truth, that if you are born you are bound to face challenges and you cannot run away from them. That challenge might be in one form or another, but it is only after you face them will you come out stronger. In my case this fundamental truth is what has helped me and been the driving force of my life.
Challenges are much easier to face when they present themselves as an external force like a competition or an examination but what is one to do when your own body fails to comply with you. Such was my situation. I had only one goal ever in my life that was to chalk out my education path and career. Along this path I had set up many milestones that I had wanted to achieve. But during the most vital years I faced serious health issues which put me down and became barriers for me to achieve this one goal that I had set for myself. The failure to make an impact at these milestone is what haunted me greatly at those times.
With every disappointment that came my way I promised myself not to give up and to continue to work. I kept persisting and worked harder because I knew one thing very clearly, success was being delayed but it would never be denied.
It is because of that persistence that today I am studying at one of the premier business schools in the country and I am driving my career the way I want to.
