I was just a normal person with fire in my eyes and aspirations. Due to financial constraints and my aspiration for pursuing my MBA, in the end, going all in, I ended up with Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Management Studies. The Institute is a known name in undergraduate education.
With the same fire to learn and excel, I started studying. My class participation was phenomenal, I always had something to say in the class. But my happiness was short lived. By the second year, I started noticing people around me. People from Uber rich and upper-class families were part of my class. these were the people who were confident and outspoken about what they felt.
The Aura around them was so strong that the kind of type A personality I was started turning into an introvert. I had lost my confidence it was not the same Jayesh that had entered here a year ago. Within my friends' group and even on normal cigarette conversations my participation was long lost. This went on for 2 years straight until I finished my graduation.
As soon as I started was done with my graduation, I decided I needed a job to at least not be a financial burden for my already stressed family. I started looking for a job anywhere and everywhere. I even sold door to door insurance for a day. I must have been through 20- 25 interviews. My days changed when I bought a blazer from Allen Solly store in Paschim Vihar.
It was an expensive purchase for my family but my father trusted in my capabilities and went ahead with the purchase.Sometimes I feel he knew it in the back of his mind that it was the confidence i had lost. The moment I put on the blazer for my interview and looked into the mirror, i felt a positive flow of energy. The amazing fit and feel gave me back my lost confidence and washed away the inferiority complex. Getting back in from after 2 years was a different feeling altogether which cannot be described in words. I was able to secure a job in marketing research and the title of "Business Analyst" that day. Later switched to Aon Consulting, prepped CAT along with the job. Present day, PGDM Student at GIM, marketing aspirant and 2 years smoke-free.
