How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
Challenges come and go, but what they leave behind is an experience. An experience to learn, to rise and achieve the goal. My journey of overcoming failures starts right from the age of 6 where I failed thrice to win the States Championship, Tae- Kwon-Do. The self-doubt and the feelings of being a loser was dragging me down continuously. The next day while I was down with fever, I came across my certificates of Districts, and that day I decided I am worth a medal in States as well. Defeat is temporary, victory is permanent. Every day I took some extra time out to practice harder and after 13 months I had my States Gold in my hand.
Next challenge came upright in 12th Boards, where just before a month before the exams, my mother was prescribed a by-pass surgery due to 85% artery blockage. Being the only child I was burdened with the emotional overflow and also the daily hustle of reaching hospital and then going for the mock exams. I spent around 25 nights outside the ICU room, struggling between the intent to study and not to peek inside the ICU room. On the day of the operation I had my Mathematics Exam, I just looked at my mother’s face through the window and went to the exam center. The time I wrote my paper was the most difficult time I have ever faced in my life. But giving up wasn’t an option. After the exam I was convinced by my performance and had a sense of achievement while coming out of the center.
I reached hospital to know that the operation had been successful and she was fine by all standards. When the results came I secured 87%, which is the most cherished accomplished of mine. This taught me how the life tests you at every step and also teaches how to fight all odds.
