Everyone faces numerous challenges in life, but it all boils down to how you faced and crossed these challenges, it is our ability to handle life's challenges is a measure of our strength of character. One such challenge I faced was to complete a 10 km Marathon, but then I was weighing 90 Kg at that point of time, I was a victim of fat shamming, Usually I was that guy in the party who sits in the corner and having deep conversations with the house cat.
It was in my final year of college when I realized it's time for a better change in life, I heard about a marathon that would be conducted near my college and I decided take part in it, but I barely survived to run a kilometer. It was a rock bottom for me, a self-realization state that I have to change.
My journey to fitness started from that very second, I googled for all possible weight loss regimes, read few books on fitness and started implementing them. From diet plans to Gym and Cardio sessions, It was a gradual acceptance of healthy diet, and scrapping off all junk food in my life. It took me around 200 days of consistent hard work and focus to reach my goal. And it finally happened I participated in the 10 km Marathon Run and was able to complete the race in 98 mins.
There is a deep satisfaction in setting a stretch goal, figuring out how to accomplish it, challenging myself to dig deep within, then going about the business of making it happen. I learned a lot about perseverance, and I learned to be flexible. Completing a marathon is a confidence-builder for all of life. I found out something of what I am made of, and the result is comforting.
