Who I Am

Innovative. Agile. Ambitious.

These three words capture the truest essence of who I am as a person today. I'm someone who loves to brainstorm, lead and inspire action in any setting that I find myself in. My peers describe me as a born leader who leads from the front and has a strong commanding authority in any situation. At work, I would call myself a curious problem solver, someone who just enjoys the art and science of problem-solving.

Self-driven, Intellectually curious, and sometimes annoyingly analytical, I’m someone who’ll go to the bottom of things and won’t rest until I satisfy myself that I’ve given my best in every scenario. This quality has led me to a state where I’ve tried my hands at a plethora of different activities, challenges, and competitions since my early schooling days. I consider myself a rare combination of an experimental scientist & economic philosopher, who's set his eyes on leading organizations to navigate change and adapt to the turbulent times of tomorrow.

Precision is a value that I admire the most, in people, in organizations, or even in conversations for that matter, for me, the quality of precision is completely synonymous with excellence in the highest capacity.

Academically, I've always been the most curious & practically driven student in any class that I've been part of. Theory in the most abstract form excites me and its application in the present-day ecosystem drives me even more. As is very evident by my journey and accomplishments thus far, subjects like Finance, Economics & Management are my key interest areas, and delving into the specifics of the nature of Financial Economics & Adaptive Business Strategy is my medium-term goal for my MBA experience.

To conclude, I'm an ambitious young adult who knows how to lead, and manage and wants to further improve my skills and competencies both in terms of hard skills as well as emotional intelligence.

My Motivation

This quote has stuck with me ever since I read it and reflects the aspect of myself that I'm most proud of. Over the years, there were many instances where I felt like I have made it and I should stop working so hard, there were times when I was down and felt like giving up, but the fact that over the last 5-6 years I've worked very hard on myself and improved so much not just academically, but as a well-rounded individual who can think for himself, who can lead, who can envision a better future for everyone around makes me very proud of myself.

For better context, until the age of 12-13, I was just another shy, middle-bencher average student who just did satisfactory enough with academics and barely explored anything outside the classroom. Something hit me in 8th Standard, a wake-up realization that I should work harder and justify the talent and opportunities that I have been blessed with, and from then on, it's been an amazing journey of self-improvement that I have undertaken. It started with doing better in academics and picking one hobby outside the class that everyone could count on. The choice was simple, it had to be Public Speaking. The process of self-improvement began and there has been no looking back since. Within the next 4 years, I had won awards, and national-level competitions gained a ton of articulation experience, and earned a scholar's repute with excellent grades both in my 10th and 12th standard. College was another pivotal experience, more for the leader in me, all this while even though I was doing well individually and I always considered myself a good leader, being at the top of the organizational hierarchy always scared me, so college allowed me to overcome a key hesitation of mine. Serving as the President of 180DC SBSC, the world’s largest student-led consulting organization helped me gain a considerable foothold in the domain of impact consulting and taught me valuable leadership lessons, and similarly, serving as the Vice-President of the Entrepreneurship club in college has given me access to more than 10 different startups across industries and maturity cycles and this experience bolstered my ability to spot inefficiencies in the market and understand what makes some business tick over the others, which is at the heart of entrepreneurship. Therefore, I would not necessarily count on one particular aspect or accomplishment over these years that stands out but rather take the opportunity to count on my overall consistency and improvement over these years as the most significant distinguishing factor that has taught me old-school wisdom of staying humble, disciplined and process-oriented is the key to sustainable progress, over any fancy shortcuts that might deliver like a shot in the dark once in a while. Progress is never linear and you have to put in the time to reap the benefits of compounding.

Future Goals

Through my undergraduate degree experience, I’ve gained a strong fundamental footing in strategy, economics & policy, especially from a consulting point of view.

Moving forward, I need more polishing on the technical side of finance & analysis- valuations, discounting & modeling and the world-class, cutting-edge curriculum at BITSoM will help me gain the same before I'm ready to start my career in management consulting.

After my first job in Consulting where I intend to spend about half a decade engaging myself in cross-functional projects with a special emphasis on high finance in ESG, Crypto & Tech, Behavioral Finance, and PE-VC. This is going to be a life-changing experience and the kind of exposure I’ll derive out of this will be unparalleled- both in terms of depth as well as breadth of projects besides the networking opportunities available.

After this stint, I would like to find my niche, ideally in ESG- as its something I’m passionate about outside of work as well as to undertake my own initiative or join a VC firm that engages in startups solving such concerns with a key focus on South-east Asia & India in particular.
