- SOMETIMES JOURNEY TEACHES MORE THAN THE DESTINATION
The journey of Aditya Birla Group is really very inspiring. Somewhere I connect with the inspiring story of Aditya Birla Group. Aditya Birla group started in 1850s. Aditya Birla Group started in picturesque town of Pilani in Rajasthan. Aditya Birla Group founder was not handed with every luxury on the platter. It instils the faith in me that anyone can achieve anything in life.
Aditya Birla Group founder Shree Shiv Narayan Birla struggled through the tough times. He believed that we should believe in our karma, and our destiny is in our hands. As much as we put in we get back in the form of rewards. This thing inspires me a lot.
There are so many products of Aditya Birla that inspire me in varied ways
Ultratech cement which went into the making of the Bandra-worli sea link inspires me to believe in taking on the unsurmountable things in life.
Birla Nano-carbon tyres which make your tyres safer teaches me that we should try to race the wheel of success in our life but we should always have solid grip to the base as Birla Non-carbon tyres has.
Big is indispensable, Grasim Industries is world’s 4ht largest producer of insulators. Birla insulators teaches me that we should insulate ourselves from the negativity.
Big is all about style. ABG comprises of various fashion brands such as LP, Allen Solly etc. LP is very close to my heart as I gifted the LP shirt to my father from my first salary.
Hindalco aluminium is used to make cover glasses of the smartphone which stands for the thing that we should embellish our life with the things that make us strong.
Vodafone idea limited which believes in making distance smaller. Which teaches me that however far apart we are physically we should stay close by hearts.
Outside as well as inside Aditya Birla Group has employee of 42 different nationalities working in 35 countries. This is the unity in diversity. This teaches that people from different cultural backgrounds make a perfect combo as Aditya Birla Group is.
Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development SR at ABG
- I believe in giving back to the society in which we are born, brought up and exploited the resources of. I have made it a point in my life right from the school. I used to participate various cleanliness drives that our school used to conduct. It always used to make me feel content. During my engineering days also I was a part of the NGO named Prayas. Prayas means endeavour. Endeavour to bring positive change into the lives of people around us in every way possible. Prayas works towards the mission: 'To achieve sustainable and all round development of society, by channelizing dynamic youth power & Bridging the gap between rural and urban society'.
- ABG also believes in giving back to the society in which we live. ABG is big on smiles. Mission of CSR at Aditya Birla is “To actively contribute to the social and economic development of the communities in which we operate. In doing so, build better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country’s human development index”. I also strongly believe in giving back to society as Aditya Birla Group does.
In these varied ways journey of Aditya Birla Group has inspired me a lot.
- One Midas Touch is All You Need
This is a story of Lalit Bhosale, SIBM Pune Human Resources 1st year student.
I was a very wayward child till I came in contact with the Midas of my life, my 8th standard mathematics teacher. I firmly believe that everyone has some qualities in them, point is just that they need someone else to make them realise it and hone it and play a role of midas in their life. This midas changes the course of action of life, at least I have experienced this for myself.
I come from a family where education will probably be third or fourth on the priority list. I was with the same mind-set till 8th standard. I was in all sorts of activities in school but studies. Then I incidentally and fortunately happen to join classes of mathematics and course of my life changed after that. I started excelling in studies which instilled a lot of confidence in my abilities.
Along with studies, I started excelling in extra-curricular. I played tennikoit at state level, that was a wonderful experience and learning. Did really well in 10th and 12th. Achieved Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme scholarship for engineering on merit.
Then came the phase of transitioning from a small town to a city like Pune. First roadblock was a cultural shock. Yes, a kind of cultural shock that person from small town faces in his own state when he steps out of his house in small town and enters a city like Pune. Yes, this is a cultural shock which is different from the cultural shock people face when they travel from North to South or East to west.
But then again, I did really good in engineering and got a campus placement. Then came the life of Indian IT MNC employee. I was top performer in two of the three exams during corporate training and that too in the batch of trainees who were from NITs, VITs and BITs. And I am thankful to my organization which makes every fresher available with level playing field.
And then the dream of the starry eyes of almost every fresher joining IT companies in India or companies in any other sector for that matter. The MBA from a top b-schools of the country. This was the race with the top talent from all over the country. I toiled hard and passed it successfully and got admission into SIBM Pune, one of the top b-schools of the country. Pursuing HR here at SIBM Pune with the starry eyes with the dream of making it to the CXO level of the organization I will be working for post MBA.
I strongly believe that whatever the situation the one is in, one just needs one midas touch and life changes for the better good.
Important part is, how and when to find the midas of one’s life? For that I have few lines of Mirza Galib:
Manzil milegi, bhatak kar hi sahi
Gumrah to who hain, jo ghar se nikle hi nahi.
