Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
Aditya Birla Group is the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate which is operating in around 35 countries. This group has being providing services in varied sectors like metals, cement, branded apparel, chemicals, financial services, telecom, and IT services. Be it the clothes I wear or the network I use, Aditya Birla group has played a major role everywhere.
Shopping is something which has always been bad for my wallet, but good for my mood and health. Pantaloons, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly and Van Heusen have always been a must stop for every shopping spree. I clearly remember those times before Diwali, where it was a must to buy new clothes for the entire family. Pantaloons was always the right choice because it was one of the places where you could buy things for everyone irrespective of the different choices and sizes. Also, the excitement when I got the news of one of my favorite brands, Forever 21 getting launched in my city is something which cannot be expressed. I can never forget how I stood in the queue on the opening day to get that extra bit of discount. The Aditya Birla group has clearly been successful in bringing a smile to my face and to many others who are huge shopaholics like me.
I have always been a loyal customer of Vodafone. Owing to the various plans that they offer and their prompt customer service, I have been successful in influencing a number of my family members to shift to the same. My grandmother who was an Idea user also joined my clan, all thanks to the Vodafone-Idea merger. Vodafone Idea Limited has been quite effective in connecting people with their loved ones and filling their lives with happiness through their incredible service.
Till today, all my lunchboxes are always wrapped up with the Freshwrap aluminum foils. It is a mandatory product in every Indian’s kitchen and has gathered a permanent spot in my mom’s trust list.
Ultratech cement has been a favourite since ages, which is quite evident from the tagline itself, “the engineer’s choice”. I haven’t seen workers in my building using any other brand except this.
Moreover, Aditya Birla group is gaining a lot of recognition in the financial services too. Housing finance, sun life insurance, mutual funds are some of the few services provided.
The presence of the company in such varied sectors is something worth a mention. I’m sure Aditya Birla group has been a major part of every Indian’s life, just as mine.
Part B: Challenges I overcame to achieve my ambitions in life so far
Every individual has a different take on what life is to him or her. According to me, getting hold of something without facing a challenge will never make you understand the importance or value of that thing.
Always being one of the good students in school and economics being my favourite subject, I had a dream to make a career in economics since a very young age of my life. But, my class 12 results were not enough to get me a good college in that field. With a lot of disappointment but with a fraction of hope I pursued my under-gradation in business administration. But I guess everything happens for a reason. My college taught me a lot of things. How it’s important to work in groups but to always stick to your individuality, how it’s not possible to get everything you wish for, how every small problem teaches you life lessons and a lot more.
After graduation, while working for a manufacturing company, I appeared for my MBA entrance exams. I got shortlisted for one college while I was waitlisted for the other. My parents being old school, convinced me to take up the first offer but I always had that tiny doubt at the back of my mind. I paid the full fees waiting for a miracle from the waitlisted college. The day I moved in, got settled, and I convinced myself to stay there, is the day I got an offer letter from the college of my choice.
It was a very difficult choice to make. My parents and people around me were not really convinced with the idea of me taking all the stress and shifting again. But somewhere I knew how taking this decision will benefit me in the long run. After explaining how much it means to me, both my parents were really supportive and took extra efforts to make sure I was happy and satisfied with the decision I took. Now, I realize it’s really important in life to take a stand, and put in efforts to make it worth all the trouble. It’s just been a month here in GIM, and I feel a value addition already. There is a lot to learn and a lot to do. I am willing to put in my 100%, even if it means that I need to fall at certain times. I will certainly rise back with more energy and confidence to prove that my decision was correct.
