PART- A

As Ernest Hemmingway had once said, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." Indeed it is. We are living in a fastrack world where innovation initiates necessity. Having spent my formative years across millenniums, I was perhaps part of the generation who witnessed the world evolve in its innate sense. From wired landline phones to mobiles fitting in the back pocket, rural-potholed roads to flawless cemented highways, from ‘Kirana’ stores to magnanimous shopping malls, from confused traditional thought to a trendy synergic vision of life, the contribution of Aditya Birla group is enormous in every sphere.

I was born in a Tier 3 city, where the outlook towards greatly varied in the 1990s. Grouped retail outlets, uncemented short lanes, and necessary dependence on local suppliers dominated the consumption and spending patterns of society. It wasn’t rural, but it wasn’t efficient. It wasn’t special. My family and I used to visit Kolkata and witness the plethora of options available for people to explore. The height of the buildings, the range of the malls, and even the enormity of possibilities seemed so fit.

Kolkata introduced me to Pantaloons. Something clicked. It could have been the sheer pleasure of finding everything under one roof or the variety of clothing. The incorporation of various brands under the same roof or the assurance that this brand provided. Throughout the four years of engineering, Pantaloons was my one-stop solution to all shopping needs. Be it formal wear, festive wear or just casual shopping, it never disappointed. Excellent customer service,  stylish designs, and the latest fashion trends sustained my faith in Pantaloons.

With time, I got to know more about the conglomerate that pioneered Pantaloons. Turns out, their influence has been constant over my life as a silent guardian. Vodafone helps me connect me with my family every day 3000 miles apart. With their expansion plans,  Pantaloons has now opened a store in my city (Asansol). The growing contribution of Aditya Birla group on the Indian lifestyle, economy, and the country is a testimony of how a will to serve the people can serve as an impetus

PART-B

Challenges provide us an opportunity to showcase our inherent potential. They give us a chance to validate ourselves in our eye. Obstacles are part of one’s life and help us evolve to our best Avatar.  Throughout my life, I faced a series of challenges in different phases of my life only to tackle them one at a time to arrive at this juncture.

During my student life, I was a bright student and had to cope up with the expectations of my parents and peers. Though I regularly participated in extracurricular and co-curricular activities throughout my schooling, I was unable to unleash my true potential due to the overwhelming burden of expectation. But, I had to fight for what I wanted to do. I had stage fright and public speaking problem which I harbor till this day.

However, what cannot be eliminated must be suppressed. I participated in many debate competitions, recitations, quizzes testing myself again and again. I was the house captain in my higher secondary and was charged with the responsibility of organizing events and regular public speaking. This further strengthened my resolve to overcome what was unwanted.

In my graduation, I had come from a small city into a pool of students, some of who had everything I always aspired. Slowly but steadily, I made my mark. I realized that your roots and your core are your strengths and not obstacles. I started leveraging them, and that gave me a differential viewpoint.
I became the general secretary of games and sports, auditor and the sponsorship Convener of our cultural fest, all at the same time. Out of the hugely talented people, I was placed in the first company that visited our campus. This boosted my confidence and subdued my inherent negativity.
Even in my job, I had to regularly interact with clients, representing my firm. Appreciation and praise significantly boosted my confidence. I realized that some challenges are manifested by ourselves and they are “All in the mind”.
