CHALLENGES – Hurdles that either teach you a lesson in case one fails, or makes one wiser with experience & learning when one successfully tames it. Challenges make one introspect, helping identify strengths & weaknesses, & provides with an opportunity to improve upon. This makes me a strong believer that challenges make you what you are, your personality & & makes you stronger for all that is there in the future. They make life what it is.

I was in 2nd standard in my school, when my mom made me prepare for a stage performance for some social gathering on one of Raj Kapoor’s famous song. I remember that day clearly, when after climbing the stage I saw all those faces sitting below, faces anxious & curious to find out what I had in store for them. Those expectations got the better of me, & I ended up shouting at the top of my voice “Mom, What should I do?”. This experience made both me & my mom realize about my stage fear.

My mom with all her experience, realized that this could be a problem for the future me, affecting my confidence & sociable skills. She made me work, helped me practice, used mirror sessions to get me know my body language & feel confident enough to be able to conquer it. Within next two years I was participating in reciting competitions & winning medals. This sounds like a fairy tale story but it isn’t.

It is said that Art is a constant companion, only if you practice it. My stage performances & active public participation kind of reduced & became redundant during my high school. I once again went into shell, which I realized during my first campus placements. It turned out be so bad, that I wasn’t thinking of sitting for the next company. Little thinking made me realize my fear of opening up again, & thus started my journey practicing mock interviews with friends & faculty, mirror sessions of answering interview questions etc. I made it a point to stand outside the interview room, leaving my anxiety there itself, bringing the confident & comfortable person to the chair set out in front on interview panelists.
