ABG :THE MAGICAL WAND TAKING CARE OF US ALWAYS - Manisha Dash,XIMB

It was rightfully echoed by Kumar Mangalam Birla when he said “I think a golden rule I can think of is the fact that you must follow your passion and do something that’s close to your heart.” It is this passion that drove Aditya Birla Group (ABG) to become 3rd largest Indian Conglomerate. Coming to me, ABG has been an indispensable part of my life since childhood. A product of ABG that plays a role since childhood in my life is Freshwrapp Aluminum foil. It is that magical wand that has kept me healthy always. It has not only preserved warmth and freshness of my food but has also helped my family during crisis. I can still vividly remember that day when the bank personnel was supposed to visit our house to sanction loan for my brother’s education. Those days, it solely depended on the bank individual to grant or revoke your sanction unlike the transparency now. My mother was busy preparing welcome drinks for them when she realized that ice tray is nowhere to be found. We needed ice cubes in the next or at least some chilled water as it was scorching hot day. That time Freshwrapp came to our rescue, she cut the foil in the shape of egg-shaped pockets in an empty egg tray and filled it will juice so that even if ice is not ready water should be chilled. We left it undisturbed for a few hours and there was the magic-The ice cubes.

The bank personnel specifically thanked my mother for the chilled drink on such a hot day. Needless to say, the loan was sanctioned and even though there must have been other important factors too that helped the sanction but this small aluminum foil had been our hero that day. Thank you Freshwrapp.

EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED

My only dream in life was to be something different not a commoner. As a middle-class average kid, I always thought rich don’t suffer and poor have no expectations. Only people who suffer are the people like me who always have to be a common man. Gradually my mentality did change but one regret stayed back that was I was still living a common life. I was working for an IT organization. Even though I was living an independent life but I wanted to do more. That’s when I decided to go for higher studies. But in Indian society if a girl is educated and has started doing job it is deemed to be perfect age for marriage. Even though my parents supported me but societal pressure was dominating. I was eventually given one year to prove my mettle. I had fully lost touch of student life and with 9 hours of work in office, concentrating on studies was becoming exceedingly difficult. In the initial days of preparation, many a times I was so dejected and had an urge to give up and accept fate but then my dream did not let me stop. Mocks were not going well and I had a rotating shift in office so my body was finding it difficult to adjust to the new changes. I fainted one day in office and after a few checkups, I was diagnosed with low BP and early signs of spondylitis. Doctor had advised me not to sit for long hours in one position and to take painkiller only in case of severe pain. With my 9 hours sitting job followed by my studying schedules, I knew I had to give up on one. But I could not afford to give up any so I fought back. I did some physiotherapy sessions in the morning and tried to improve my posture. I t was not easy; many a times pain was intolerable to the extent of crying but I kept going. CAT exams were not as expected but still I tried for other exams and the day I received my admission letter from XIMB, all the troubles and pain seemed worth it.
