AMIT SHARMA

The name Aditya Birla exemplifies integrity, quality, performance, perfection and above all character. My association with these values and the urge to inculcate and grow with these makes Aditya Birla Group BIG IN MY LIFE. My sense of belonging with a variety of brands and a number of wonderful memories associated with them at different stages of life have made Aditya Birla Group an integral and indispensable part of my life.

From childhood memories of shopping for the first time from Pantaloons on my birthday or using Freshwrapp to wrap my food before putting it in the tiffin box to wearing brands like Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England for my work interviews and meetings to feel more confident, ABG brands have always been there to share and celebrate happiness, new beginnings and ensuring quality and value.

Aditya Birla Group with its diverse brands, businesses and quality customer service has provided me with so many beautiful and emotional touch points in life. Subscribing to ‘Idea’ when I purchased my first phone, connecting with campaigns like “What an Idea Sirji” and Pantaloon’s “Style Your Change” made me feel like a part of the whole ABG family.

The blend of continuity and change that aptly captures the group’s legacy holds true in my life as well. The group’s values, ethics and growth story over decades gives a message on how to change, transform, strive and grow by sticking to your morals and values. The journey with Aditya Birla Group has been like no other and this makes it big in my life and I aspire to be a part of this diverse family that showcases an enduring passion for work, entrepreneurial spirit and high ethical standards.

How Have I Made An Impact

I have always been fascinated by the game of Lawn Tennis. From a very young age, I started following the game passionately and now I can very much relate the game with my life, the challenges I face, the opportunities I come across and a sense of victory on overcoming the obstacles. Tennis and life both are like marathons for me where I continuously try to rework, refine and keep moving.

My parents gifted me a lawn tennis racket on my birthday back in 2008. My father was posted in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh at that time and the entire city had just one tennis court. The court was approximately 7-8 km away from my home and it was not possible for me to travel every day to play. This also meant that there was no formal coaching available to me. I started practicing by rallying against the wall and very soon it became my dearest opponent. I always felt an urge to get a chance to be coached formally and play on real courts but for the next 6 years I never got an opportunity to play on courts and learn. This didn’t deter my love, dedication and passion for the game

In 2014, I finally got an opportunity to play on hard court in college. I started to practice and train relentlessly with the university coach. This was an opportunity I aspired for years and was very much able to understand its value. I unlearned and relearned the correct techniques by practicing for numerous hours. In 2015, I got an opportunity to represent my college in GGS Indraprastha University’s Intercollege Lawn Tennis tournament. I was knocked out in the second round and it proved to be another important and critical learning in my life. It gave me an opportunity to play against better players and left me hungry to improve more.

I started participating in more tournaments and kept a track on my progress. In 2016, I won the Intercollege tournament in doubles category and ended as a semi-finalist in singles category. I also got an opportunity to represent my university in All India University Lawn Tennis Tournament (North Zone).

My journey with the game continues and it’s endless. The game has taught me to persevere, never let go of your passion, keep trying and also taught me skills like critical thinking. I feel happy about the fact that I was also able to motivate my friends, juniors and seniors to continue and chase their passion and dreams.
