Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

I have found it always mind-boggling while contemplating how the big conglomerates like ABG work. It was, even more, overwhelming the way ABG is running its business successfully for the last 162 years (since 1857). On one side there were overhaul changes and paradigm shifts in every aspect of the society over the years, decades & centuries whereas on the other hand, ABG was standing tall in their service weathering all those headwinds. It’s a fascinating journey indeed.

In my life so far I get to experience ABG’s wide variety of products and I am really impressed by both of its products and marketing. UltraTech cement was truly “The Engineer’s Choice” as I have seen a widespread recommendation for this product by the engineers. The world’s 2nd largest telecom network Vodafone Idea Limited remains relentless in its service with a reliable network and I am really enjoying its service over a decade. Formals from Peter England, casuals from Allen Solly, jeans from Pantaloons and suit from Louis Philippe – a young b-school student like me really want to have these apparels from Aditya Birla Fashion in his wardrobe. There are some indirect ways too through which ABG has touched millions of lives. A large share of copper requirements by Indian Railways is fulfilled by Birla Copper. Hindalco aluminium is used to make cover glass for smartphones. The Aditya Birla group has also shown an impressive gesture through its CSR activities. It has reached 7.5 million people, worked in 5000 villages, immunised 70 million children against polio and many other social activities so far. It wouldn’t be any surprise if I find myself as one of the beneficiaries through its any of the above mentioned indirect ways too.

Hence unarguably Aditya Birla Group has really a big impact in my life.

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far

The journey of accepting challenges and overcoming them is the way of life. Surpassing each obstacle enriches our knowledge & sharpens our skills and makes us more confident.

Belonging to a rural area and having a keen interest in how the world works since very early of my childhood, I always felt that I was not getting enough exposure to the real complex world. After completing school I decided to move to Kolkata for better exposure. It was not an easy decision to execute keeping in mind my limited communication skill, not so good financial condition of my family and many other challenges. But all those challenges soon seemed to worth overcoming when I started getting the desired exposures for being in a metro city and pursuing engineering. My quest for better exposure continued as after getting my job I decided to opt for the location as Pune leaving aside the comfort of the home state. Once again the challenge seemed to worth accepting, Pune was itself a technology & business hub, close to the financial hub Mumbai and its geographical proximity with many other big cities provided me with the opportunity to interact with different professionals across different organizations. Those interactions gave me the clarity about my goal that I am more intrigued about how business works rather than the technological intricacies of any technology associated with that business. This realization led me to a new set of challenges as I decided to pursue an MBA. After overcoming the challenges of entrance exams and interviews I have finally able to get into one of the top institutes of this country. Now I am really excited to learn more about business and implement those learning in my upcoming career.
