Being an avid shopper, I have a prioritized list of brands that I shop from. While Louis Philippe tops the list, Van Heusen and Allen Solly follow it closely. I have been wearing these brands for about 8-9 years now, and I feel quite embarrassed to confess that I came to know that these brands are part of Aditya Birla Group only 4-5 years ago. Until then, I had assumed that these brands, with their premium quality, would most like be foreign. Only when I realized that they are Indian was I able to appreciate the supremacy and reach of the Aditya Birla Group.
It is quite difficult to imagine that a brand such as this, with products that attract us millennials, has been out there affecting countless lives (for the better) since 1857. The diversity of businesses that ABG operates in is astounding. Globally, the ABG rates number 1 in Aluminum rolling, Viscose staple fiber, and carbon black, grey and white cement and concrete, amongst others. This has been made possible thanks to the great legacy of the group and its commitment to consistently work on its biggest assets- The Employees. This path of excellence was set long back, when the group's flagship company, Grasim was established post-independence.
The ABG tirelessly works on building up and improving the community; its efforts include education, health-care, sustainable livelihood, women empowerment, and many such initiatives. The driving force behind all this has been Mr. Aditya Birla, who, unfortunately, had an untimely demise in 1995. However, his vision and leadership helped the group amass a revenue of $44.3 billion in 2018. The group is still committed to his vision and has garnered huge admiration and respect from people.
With brands spread across a multitude of sectors like Apparel, textiles, trading, manufacturing, banking, and telecom to name a few, it is a sign of the group's greatness that all the brands in these sectors are known and respected throughout India as well as the world.
The Aditya Birla Group, more than anything else, is devoted to helping India rise through the ranks in developed nations, and to achieve that, the group has worked tirelessly and selflessly. It is, therefore, absolutely fair to say that the Aditya Birla Group has gone beyond its business to touch the lives of millions of people.
