"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it" - Michael Jordan
While he may not be known as the wisest of philosophers, NBA stalwart Michael Jordan knows a few things about crossing obstacles and rising to greatness. And the aforementioned words by #23 show his own belief in conquering obstacles and aim to inspire millions to do the same.
A little bit about me. At a young age, I was diagnosed with a condition known as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). What it essentially does is increase impulsive behaviour and reduce the ability of a person to concentrate on something. While not drastically life-changing, this disorder can cause problems when dealing with academics or in a professional environment.
Because of the lack of impulse control, there were several instances where I rushed in to do things when forethought was gravely required. Most of these decisions were around my academic choices, and in several of these instances, a little amount of thinking would have helped me choose a better path. The most common instance that was ruined bacause of my disorder was examinations - one where concentration is a must.
However, not one to lay my tools down, I found ways around to conquer the disorder. Meditating in between exams (yes, it did take up some precious time, but the other option was objectively worse) was the first task that I got up to grips with. Slowly but surely, the attention that was required in the three hours of an examination came along.
Over time, I have become better at controlling my impulses and paying attention to things, but there's still some way to go. And I will not stop till I reach my goal.
