Tired after a long tenuous stressful roller-coaster ride of a day, imagine walking down the main street of a bustling metro. Picture the lights, the air, the noise, the motor vehicles going down the street at top speed or if it’s a peak hours imagine the vehicles strutting along the road with intensive blaring of their horns, followed by a slew of curses regardless if it is the crème of cars or the working man’s method of transport to office. The only thought that would be in my head is ‘WHEN AM I GOING TO REACH HOME AND IS THIS DAY EVER GOING TO END’. However, there is also a sense of peace, you feel comfortable, confident and hopeful, almost as if you’ve attained something or rather, you’re expecting something, you want something and everything around you is just a matter of temporary escapism.

For a that split second, when the noise pollution is on a halt, you finally look up and decide to avoid and skillfully dodge the asteroid field of people walking towards you. You see a few things that really do mesmerize your dark circle surrounded eyes. There is something about that spectrum of colors that makes you want to stay a while. Along with variety of colors you look also notice the names that those colors highlight, the sheer exuberance of the brand names brings a second wind into you. The showrooms all lined up as if to spoil you with choice, right from the business formals to smart casuals and even the common man’s attire. Let’s not even get into what is behind the glass screens in front of you. Be it the power that Van Heusen brings, the class that compliments Peter England, the sophisticated appeal of Ralph Lauren or the plethora of options that you see outside a People showroom. You feel a privileged to be witness to the range and completeness provided in front of your previously sinking eyes. Suddenly your phone buzzes and you see a text from your mother asking how long you’ll take and you send an immediate reply because of Vodafone Idea’s extraordinary coverage, informing her you’re arriving at the metro station. Just as you arrive you realise that you’ve lost you’ve not carried your train pass and decide to call a close friend or family member and they immediately transfer you some money via the ABPB application and the next thing you realise is that you’re just a few minutes from your home.

In the train you see a mother with her children and notice their tiffin boxes with the Freshpakk aluminium packaging that allowed them to have a hot meal for their lunch break in school. While your attention drifts outside the glass windows you see billboard advertisements as bright as day elucidating the Engineer’s choice of Ultratech cement followed by several billboards of Forever 21, Multi 100 and celebrity-initiated brands such as Skult by Shahid Kapoor. Finally, you enter your door step and make it back to you room. You notice your Louis Philippe suit, feel the charisma and remember how confident you felt in the interview process through the day. You contemplate your day understand how tedious it has all been for you, working day in and day out to get the finest of jobs. Just as you exit your current state of contemplation, you see a notification on your email and see that all your hard work has borne fruit and you have finally attained what you worked for all these years.
