Part A
Aditya Birla Group has influenced my life from every possible angle. My earliest recollections of the company would be through the brand of Pantaloons. It was a one-stop shop for all the clothing and accessory needs of my family. We would occasionally visit there and get to know about the latest trends in design that are coming up in the market, while as easily finding dresses that suit our traditional needs.
I lived in Kolkata for the major part of my childhood, and Durga Puja was a huge event for my family. It almost became synonymous with Pantaloons since the Pujas would mean multiple visits to the nearest Pantaloons store. Also, having a home in the City of Joy blessed us with several visits from my relatives who lived in the suburban areas. Our home would act as a stopover for the eventual shopping to take place at the Pantaloons, thus allowing me to take a moment out of the busy urban schedule and enjoy the time with my cousins. The visits at these stores were not just shopping sprees, but an experience. Through the exposure to the variety of brands at display, we developed our taste for sensible clothing. We had arguments and discussions on what would we wear on each day of the Pujas, and it was endless due to the plethora of outfits at display. This seasonal requirement of shopping became a source of recreation and it has enhanced the bonding between me and my cousins, which would have been impossible without the brand of Pantaloons.
Part B
Life has always been riddled with challenges, which eventually led to success or failure. While the successes made me confident, the failures made me even stronger to desire that success. One such instance would be the tremendous willpower that I had shown to achieve the 8 years consecutive 100% attendance award.
I was a punctual student at school and I still try my best to be that way. I was pushed by my parents to not miss school for no reason and it eventually inculcated a sense of discipline in me. I had missed the full attendance award in my first and second standard due to missing school for one and two days respectively. But then, I started ignoring minor ailments that affected me. I received the 100% attendance award in my third and fourth standard due to this discipline that I had developed. That is the time I started counting on how many years I can hold this for, and it developed a determination in me. There also came a time when my parents asked me to miss school due to having high fever, but I was not ready to give in. When you have invested years for achieving a feat, you seldom accept the obstacles coming in, however difficult they might be. And truly it was a wonderful moment to hear a special mention for the achievement on the Annual Day of my tenth standard. I have made sacrifices on many occasions to maintain that record, and I felt they did payoff well.
Since then, I have been punctual at school, college and work. It has become a way of life for me, to maintain that discipline.
