Fashion always creates a first impression. As it is said Fashion is perhaps the very first expression of success of a free nation. Fashion is a celebration and a joy.
When I got my first job at Infosys, I always used to spend an hour to decide what I should wear to work. Though there was no such dress code and formal wear was not mandatory, but I wanted to have attire that looked formal and professional. I felt that being well dressed and formal attire can make one more confident. But unfortunately, being recently passed out from college I didn’t have any work wear. A month passed, and then I received my first salary. The same day, I went shopping with my friends to buy clothes. I visited many stores but I couldn’t find what I desired and suddenly my eyes fell on this Van Heusen Store across the street. It looked so beautiful from outside with formal wear and elegant tops hanging. The store suddenly dragged my attention and I directly went there. There was a beautiful blue colored striped top which I loved and without any second thoughts I grabbed and bought it. My birthday was in two days and this was the first gift to me – “A Van Heusen Top”. It’s been four and a half year and I still use the top and remember that day.
After that I always preferred to shop my office wear from Van Heusen as it offers a wide range of business apparels and is known for their profound elegance.
After working with Infosys for around three years, I desired for career advancement and hence decided to prepare for MBA. But managing studies with work was a challenge that I faced. Four months prior to the CAT examination, I was mapped to two new projects and the deadline to finish the project was November which was the month of the CAT examination. I had to work for long hours in order to complete the project soon as it was a new client and if there was any miss then we would have lost the client. Most of the days I used to come home at 9-10 pm at night and it were very difficult for me to study after such a hectic day. I thought of preparing in the weekends but as days passed, we were sometimes asked to work on weekends as well. I felt that if I want to achieve what I desire I have to put extra efforts. I was not willing to reduce my efficiency at work as that was equally important to me as preparing for CAT, because I never wanted to leave the organization with a bad impression. So I started to study at night and strategized on how to cover the important portions as I didn’t had time to complete the whole course. I also planned concentrated more on the test series to know my progress. I used to sleep for 4-5 hours a day for around two months.
But this hard work paid off when I got admitted to one of the top tier B-School in India. Also, the project at Infosys was completed without any major issue and the team got a lot of appreciation from the client.
