ABG transcends the conventional boundaries and makes a difference in this world, just like the challenges in our lives that transcend us to be the better version of ourselves.
One such challenge I faced was during my 3rd year of engineering when my mother was diagnosed with lymph node cancer. This shattering news came when my father was on an official trip. She had to undergo surgery the very next week as it was already stage 2. As she went under the knife, the doctor reminded me just to have faith in God, as only He can help, and at that very moment, my heart sank to the bottom. I had no clue how to manage my life without her, but there was no option. I had to be strong and resilient in those parlous times. Those dire times followed with financial instability and emotional chaos that made my father and I work together incessantly towards making the ends meet.
Coupled with my personal hardships, I had to balance my academic commitments at the same time as my semester exams were fast approaching and also a mini project which required complete dedication from my end. For someone who had never bothered about household chores, this situation necessitated me to change my daily routine and made me a more responsible person. I inculcated the habit to wake up early, prepare food for my father and then attended college, study for exams, visit my mother in hospital and it all used to end with me preparing dinner with my father in a hurry late night.
Even the darkest nights will end when the sun rises the next morning. My mother coming home after successfully recovering from 2 surgeries was one such euphoric moment that will always be the most savored moment of my life.
Those times were no less than a battle and every battle come with a lesson to be learnt. I made a lot of sacrifices but never did I lose hope and courage and as Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla said
“Business today is nothing short of a battle and every battle-hardened veteran will tell you, courage is what it takes”.
