Part A: Why ABG is big in your life?

Born and brought up in the city of dreams, Mumbai, I have imbibed it’s never giving spirit. It’s a place that has a life of its own and you feel it breathing in and out rhythmically with the sea waves crashing on and retreating from its shore. The city once reclaimed from the sea is now one of the mega cities of the world.

A mega city is defined by its infrastructure, and Mumbai boasts of the iconic ‘Bandra Worli Sea Link’ where Aditya Birla Group’s Ultratech cement has been used for its construction. The sea link has been a boon for everyone including me who can now travel from one part of the city to the other without worrying about the traffic.

With food, clothing and shelter, internet has become the 4th basic need of humans. Aditya Birla Group’s Vodafone Idea is already taking on the challenge by proviing uninterrupted service to its clients all over the world and it’s evident from the fact that it is the 2nd largest telecom network in the world. A loyal customer of the IDEA network, and fan of the Abhishek Bachchan’s “What an IDEA sirji” advertisements, I found my connection to the Aditya Birla Group through IDEA’s network.

Be it dressing up for a formal function or a cultural conglomeration, Aditya Birla groups Van Huesen, Louis Philippe, Peter England and Allen Solly are my one stop solution for buying clothes. As a matter of coincidence all my lucky shirts are Louis Philippe made.

So from clothing to internet to travelling around the city, Aditya Birla Group finds its representation in every aspect of my life.

PART B: How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

On an academic front I had achieved success without putting in real hard efforts. I could manage to clear evaluations and tests without really breaking a sweat. As I progressed through different levels of education I met my peers who put in a lot of hard work to achieve their goals. With competition rising I realized that I required to put in a lot of hard work to stay in the race. The first challenge that I had to overcome was to do away with my habit of procrastination and learn the art of scheduling time. I knew that to achieve my ambitions I had to develop a strategy that would resonate with me. I found my inspiration in one of the talk shows where Rahul Dravid shared his insights on how he approached chasing huge targets in test cricket.

Inspired from his strategy to approach targets by breaking huge targets into smaller ones, I scheduled my work, and broke my portion into small portions and completed one target at a time. This, habit slowly started taking deep roots in my psyche and I started planning ahead of schedule and started losing my habit of procrastination.

This habit of breaking down things in smaller portions also helped me in revising my concepts quickly as I had only small clusters of portion to study compared to studying vast portions. It particularly helped me in preparing for my MBA entrance exams while I had to manage the work load at office. Thus, I believe anything is achievable if we plan and schedule task beforehand.
