Part A

With an innovative mind, vibrant culture and strong economic and environmental foothold the Aditya Birla Group has an expanded business through different verticals – from telecom to textile, from finance to fashion, from cement to carbon black. It is an Indian premium conglomerate in its true sense. Having such an extended domains, it has impacted millions’ of lives and transformed its employees’ fortunes for good. I, being a proud citizen of mother India, feel delighted about the thought of a colossal Indian corporation. I personally feel more connected with the thought because, I have a dream about starting my own company and get it to highest stage; by ‘Talking India to World’, ABG has given me a pathway and immense confidence to pursue my dream by overcoming all the challenges. Starting up with my MBA journey, I am hopeful to adhere to the best practices and follow the footprints of the great leaders to walk the talk.

ABG is currently located across 35 countries in the world and changing the lives of millions for good. However, let me talk about my personal engagements with them. Well, we all know that a person’s personality or conceptions are built in the early ages, and with me there was no exception. I still remember the happiness of my parent’s face once our first home was built, using none other than UItratech cement. I have lived in each spaces of that house for past 22 years and can feel one of my part is integrated with it.

After the house, I got to see the first mobile phone in my father’s hand, which was given from his office. The initial connection was of Hutch, which transpired into Vodafone later on. My personal experience and initial notions have hold the connections very dear to my heart, not only being for one of the most available and strong networks throughout India, but also due to the fact that my father passed away ten years back while he was using this connection only. Also, my best friend has been using connectivity of IDEA cellular connection faithfully for a decade, and our debate on which one is better transpired to be an eternal one, now both of them have merged and came under the ABG group.

When I grew up and became bit more confident and independent financially, I tried and tested the different apparels from centres like Pantaloons, Allen Solley, van heusen etc. Little did I imagine initially that all of these brands came under the umbrella of ABG. Though, I don’t shop much, but my inclination for myself and my close ones shopping always get inclined to these brands. These brands shoots confidence and get the best version out of me, one way or another.

In conclusion, ABG has given me a direction to pursue and follow a dream, and I would like to the distance for making the world a better place along with it.

Part B

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
Helen Keller, The Open Door

Hi, do you recognize me? Well, probably by this time you have gotten to know that my name is Anirban and I am a PGDM student at IMT Ghaziabad, batch of 2019-21. But those two lines don’t even describe the 1 % of it, isn’t it so?

The topic of the hour is overcoming challenges to achieve life ambitions. Now, ‘Challenge’ is be a subjective concept, as it is neither quantitatively or qualitatively measurable in most of the cases. Also, from one of the popular movie, we get the understanding that ‘Life is a Race’. So, let me try to be as objective as possible to display a lyrical picture of the struggle of my life journey and the achievements in the hindsight of it.

As a small boy, I was not a very comfortable speaker as I couldn’t pronounce many of the letters clearly. Oh, did I tell you that I am a Bengali, and despite of being a sweet language, it was not very easy for me to grasp a hold of it. My mother got worried and even considered to take me to a Speech Specialist. However, I overcame the challenge and began speaking fluently (sometimes quite a lot) in two years’ time.

Next, I used to be a boy with a physique to the healthier side at my childhood. Okay, let me be blunt and say it out that I was a fat figure and was subjected to a lot of body shaming from a lot of people. Despite of being indifferent to the most of it, it was really difficult to be a part of the close group who would call you ‘Mota(Fatso)’ all the time. So one fine afternoon, after some verbal disagreement with one of my close peers, I made up my mind to get in shape. Well, not going into too much of details and without bragging, I state the fact that I lost 15 KG weight in approx. one year time, it was fully my own effort as I didn’t want anyone else to know about it. It was a huge confidence booster for me. Also, the people who were making a mockery of me, either in front or back, they couldn’t even recognize the ‘new me’ and were in awe. I am in touch with some of them and they still speak about my transformation with admiration and never ever tried to mock me about any such things.
