I’m sitting in my room which happens to be the oldest hostel in our college. No marbles or tiles. The walls painted with Lime and I’m wondering what makes XIMB unique? Is it our extremely knowledgeable faculties? Is it the batch quality? Or is it the committees. But these are ingredients of every Top B school in the country. So, what really makes this campus really unique? Let me take you through this journey.
After working for one of the top MNC companies in Bangalore for around 3 years I decided to go for my MBA. I was lucky to have a couple of options in my hand. My primary and secondary education was done in St. Xavier’s School Doranda. So, the decision was obvious. I joined Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneshwar. Soon after joining the college every one of us started getting pulled in so many different directions. Sometimes Academics sometimes competitions and sometimes trying your hands-on things which I would have never imagined.
The 2nd trimester was probably the most hectic one where we had nonstop exams for close to 50 days. Seeing the entire batch facing the same pressure was the key to keeping myself motivated. Putting 10 alarms and reminding 5 people to wake me up for the exams was something worth seeing. I survived.
3rd trimester was quite easy. We had the most precious quantity that one could have in School life, “Time. I had the time to think about why I joined this particular b-school and compared it with others. Staying up all night and talking random stuff with friends. Understanding different prerogatives actually gave me the answer. I had been looking at the answer all this while. It’s the people of XIMB which makes it unique. The humility, the will to break all barriers combined with the Jesuit belief of returning back to the society is what makes XIMB unique. St. Francis Xavier once said, “Be great in little things”. In this dynamic world, this is one belief that has remained constant for the last 30 years. This is the legacy we carry!
PS:- We also have a guy named as Unique Shailu who is doing a triple major in finance. If this doesn’t sound unique I have no idea what unique is :p
The ABG Company I would like to work for:
I would love to work for Aditya Birla Fashion Retail. Why ABG Fashion Retail? I have been an ardent believer of “Give the man a suit and he will conquer the world”. Being part of brands like Louis Philippe, Peter England would give me the opportunity to implement my beliefs. Working with such brands would help me educate my peers on the importance of dressing perfectly. They say “The first impression is the last impression”. Being associated with such brands will put me in a place where I can make sure everyone individual will have the “Best First Impression”.
