There’s a saying “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. Life is never a bed of roses, for anyone. Challenges are a part of every endeavour that we take up in any aspect of our life. However what matters is our mindset and our attitude towards these challenges. How we face these challenges and are able to look them in the eye is what shapes our personality.

When it comes to my life in particular, I have had to face a lot of challenges. However, the biggest challenge by far would be the one I had to face in my 12th standard. Both of my maternal grandparents passed away within four months of each other. The emotional trauma of losing both my grandparents was enough as it was but the real trauma came from watching my mother. The impact that losing both her parents in such a short span of time had on my mother cannot be put into words. Watching her in that state was not easy. This alongside the pressure I had taken upon myself created an adverse impact and led to me performing extremely poorly in my board exams. However, I still didn’t let it hold me back and got into a good engineering college. This taught me an important lesson which is to never let external factors impact things which are important. I was able to adhere to this when I gave my various MBA exams and it helped me to perform exceptionally well. All of this has strengthened my belief that one can overcame any adversity no matter what the odds are if he/she doesn’t give up.
