Part A:

As I am sitting in my hostel room and writing this article, I can remember how Aditya Birla has a vast presence all throughout my life. As I belong from a middle-class family, Pantaloons has always been my go to go option when it comes to purchasing clothes, be it in Durga Puja or some other occasions. I have a knack of marketing for quite a long time. I am doing MBA so that I can switch my domain to marketing. Aditya Birla Group is in the League of Fortune 500 companies. The Aditya Birla Group has been ranked fourth in the world and first in Asia Pacific in the ‘Top Companies for Leaders’ study 2011. Their presence is evident in the daily life of a large segment of the Indian populace. Their role in the ever-changing scenery of Indian cities is not prominent but ever-present through Ultratech cement. Brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Idea Cellular, Birla Sun Life Insurance and Birla Sun Life Asset Management are among the leaders in their respective categories. Even their foreign presence is the symbol of India’s growth in recent times. In short, the Aditya Birla group has taken India on its shoulders and helped it reach new heights. In word ABG represent the greater mass of India and inspiring a billion Indians including me.

Part B:

The biggest challenge I faced was when I came from a small village in West Bengal to the city of joy Kolkata to pursue engineering. As I come from a vernacular medium, initially it was very difficult for me as all the subjects have been taught in English. I had severe inferiority complex and could not feel confident about myself. But then I decided to do something about it and overcome the challenge. I started reading English novels, newspaper watching interviews of prominent speakers, Ted talk, television series. I also joined a call centre and worked there for 2 months to increase my fluency in English. During that time period I also Gradually I started feeling confident about myself and got into some of the prominent companies who visited our campus in the placement time. I was also told by my peers that IIMs, specially Cat is not an exam for people like you who comes from vernacular background. But I overcame that challenge too by practicing hard and brushing up my soft skills. For me no barrier is big enough if you have the willingness to overcome it.
