From 1919, when it was started as jute Manufacture Company, till today 2019 Aditya Birla Group has touched billions of people and has made a positive change in their life. Aditya Birla Group has not only emerged as leading business organization, but it has become the integral part of the lifestyle of people.
Aditya Birla Group has always stood by us no matter what. If we want to build our home; it was with us in the form of Ultratech cement, if we are far from our loved ones; it was with us in the form of Idea cellular; if we want to learn new thing but don’t have resources, it was with us in the form of Idea 4G, if we are afraid of future uncertainties; it was with is in the form of Birla Sun Life Insurance.
Most difficult thing for any person is to borrow money from someone, but Aditya Birla Group has never let us compromise with our self-respect. In our hard financial times, it was always there with us in the form of Birla Global Finance.
Aditya Birla Group has not only touched the lives of people, but it has saved some lives as well. I really like to visit different places; especially adventurous places. Once I was visiting Girnar Mountain in Gujarat, which is almost 1000 meter above sea level. We were going up and all of sudden one of my friend met with an accident and he was not in the condition to walk anymore. There was no one around whom we can approach for the help, and at that height none of us were expecting to have signal in our phone, but fortunately when we checked our phone Idea had full network and we called for help. Aditya Birla Group is the reason for the smiling face of my friend’s parents; friends; and family.
I was born and brought up in Porbandar, Gujarat. I have completed my primary, secondary and higher secondary education in Porbandar itself; in vernacular language. I was quite a bright student in all the subjects except one, which is English. Having studied in vernacular language and living in such an environment where I was not exposed to English, I could never gain confidence in that language.
I was so afraid of that language that I decided to pursue my graduation also in vernacular language. And I did that. But after my graduation when I decided to go for an MBA and decided to appear for CAT, reading comprehension section was the biggest challenge for me. But I had learned to fight against odds and I decided to fight against this one as well.
I started from 6 th standard and read all the books till 12 th standard but improvement was almost equal to nil, but I did not give up. I started thinking about how a person can learn a language. One day when I was playing with my nephew I suddenly realize that I need to learn in the same way little babies learn their first language. They don’t have any other language to translate in but they relate everything they hear and watch with their experience.
I divided my learning process in four parts which is reading, writing, listening and speaking, and decided to work on each part separately. I started to read newspapers and write an essay on whatever I read on daily basis. This exercise helped me improving my reading and writing skills. I decided to watch English news channels to improve my listening skills whenever I want to take break from my studies, but I always end up watching Hollywood movie. For my speaking skill I decided to speak in English only, with my friends and I did that. That is the reason I guess why my friends were so happy when I got selected in IIM Raipur. However listening and speaking part was little bit fun, but I took reading and writing part very seriously, and it helped me a lot in reaching me where I am. And in my whole journey of learning, Aditya Birla Group was always present with me in the form of idea 4G.
I not only learned English but I also learned how to learn. I learned to fight back against the odds, I learned not to give up, I learned to trust myself and I learned to say I CAN AND I WILL in every situation.
Aditya Birla Group is not only the business entity or brand, but it is the way of living life. Life full of pride, happiness, confidence and self-esteem; and I am a proud member of Aditya Birla Groups fraternity.
