The Story of My Life:

Surprising the mind by proving it wrong is the biggest sense of satisfaction that any person can experience. Life is cluttered with hurdles and challenges. Personal, social and professional situations often deprive us of our chance to realize our dreams and ambitions. The first problem generally is to identify what one’s ambition is.

Having come from a family, where the dinner table talk was all about numbers, sales and marketing strategies, I was ambitious to go for the goldmine. One school of thought told my mind that MBA is not the deciding factor. Another took inspiration from my father.  Having finished only his under graduation, he worked his way to the top and my mind believed that, I could climb that ladder up much faster if a route was available.

Competition in India is cut-throat and we are always in a position where we have to excel in academics. The moment I got into the post graduate preparatory zone, I realized what I had put my feet into. The first challenge was time management. Weekends were dedicated for competitive exams. I created a virtual mind map of my weekly study preparation.  Although, it might sound a bit too ambitious, it was very effective in my case. I didn’t have to keep diaries or records.

The Second Challenge was keeping a calm head during the entire course of preparation and some regular mental activities allowed me to remain sane. But the journey which was studded with some failures never stopped me from achieving my ambition. Here I am, typing this article from NMIMS; a top 10 MBA Post-Grad University in the country. Against all the odds, I made it. The important take away is put your failures behind your back and learn from the mistakes. This allowed me to become a more rational decision maker and lean from the past. Thus, odds really don’t matter. Only you decide your destiny. Make it count.
