I am a part of the Finance Forum committee at my MBA college. One of the event that we carry out is arranging and hosting a conclave for our students wherein we invite prestigious guests at our campus and be a part of the conclave and share their thoughts on the given theme and topic.

Last year also we conducted a similar conclave and my major contribution was to convert guests for the conclave. I succeeded in converting 3 guests for the same. The remaining guests were converted by my team members. All the other work like arranging the infrastructure, food and beverages, etc. were looked after and we were all set for the D-day.

On the day of the conclave a couple of hours prior to the start of the event one of the guests called stating that due to some emergency he wouldn’t be able to make it for the conclave. This caused a panic amongst us as we needed a new guest now to fill in the place and we could not invite anybody on such a short notice.

The entire team was in panic mode and since our college follows a student driven culture we did not have any higher authorities to go to at that moment. The entire team sat together and thought of how to overcome this hurdle. Finally after a lot of discussion we collectively came to a conclusion that we would ask our Finance HOD to fill in that place as she has great knowledge regarding the topic on theme. We asked her and initially she was hesitant as she wasn’t prepared but eventually she agreed. The conclave was a huge success and we were applauded for our crisis management.
