The first memory of Aditya Birla Group in my life was watching Ultratech cement advertisements on television sets when I was 10. In my sixteen my father got me a phone with the Idea sim, I was going through the packaging of the sim card and I got to know that Idea is also owned by Aditya Birla Group. It was during my higher schooling when I searched about the Aditya Birla Group then I realized the scale of the conglomerate, the companies, the brands and how the group has worked to be active in 14 industry sectors and has achieved global and national leadership in several businesses.

Aditya Birla Group has eminent presence in every person’s life of our country and almost half of the world’s population. In my life ABG came with Idea, I still use Idea’s sim though various new competitors has come up but the network coverage, service and satisfaction provided to me in last six years kept my trust for continue using Idea’s sim. Aditya Birla Group has almost captured every Indian’s wardrobe- Ted Baker, Van Heusen, People, Pantaloons, Planet Fashion these brands cater to all segments. Pantaloons and people have targeted middle income groups while the others are premium clothing brands. Products diversification has helped Aditya Birla Group reach the masses, making them one the biggest clothing company in India.

More than the impact in my life, ABG has impacted the life of the masses with their various CSR initiatives, makes the ABG group bigger. Immunization Program, distributing solar lamps, mid day meals and skill training program has helped thousands in changing their life. This validates why ABG has grown exponentially and deserves to be in Fortune 500 list.

LIFE IS A CHALLENGE
Challenges and adversities are a part of everyone’s life. That’s not negotiable. What is, is how you deal with it. I had also faced various challenges in my life, socializing with peers in schools, physically because of asthma, keeping my team together in college but the major challenge I faced in my life was when I started selling electronics goods online, I had the first movers advantage since no one was selling Panasonic home Theatres on amazon and flipkart, for the first few sakes it started well with less margin but we expected good sales volume but due to sales return and others competitors arriving we soon lost the buy button since we didn’t availed the warehouse services. We initially thought of decreasing our margins but it made no profits. We lacked in expertise and insider knowledge of how these MNC’s worked, I started with procuring the home theatres at cheaper rates and buying in bulk, but we needed the by button back. To get the buy button I read about the algorithms that both companies use and read the book “hack the buy box”, but we needed to gain more insider knowledge to actually get that. I started calling seller support and urged to get a demand chart, so that I can actually know what my sales will be and accordingly buying the product in bulk so there’s fast inventory movement with least hoarding. After few days I finally managed to get the chart from the seller helpline, henceforth I managed to run my online business successfully.
