I hail from Kadapa town which is in the southern part of Andhra
Pradesh and spent my entire childhood there. My first encounter to Aditya Birla Group was actually when the new supermarket chain “MORE” was newly setup in our town. And I was extremely happy as it was in proximity to my home. My father used to tell me about ABG, their works and every detailing about the brand. The brand new supermarket in town, MORE was so appealing to me and it offered variety of products at discounted rates. There was a huge crowd in the store, I still remember the gift which we got in the first purchase and it was a Dinner set. Our whole family shifted buying daily goods from the conventional store to MORE as it was a one-stop store and a unique shopping experience with quality, fresh products. The customer service and the store experience are highly satisfying and we could only look for one option from then. I am a brand freak and during my stay in Bangalore, I have done all my shopping from one outlet, PANTALOONS. I could rely on this store for my daily wear because of the quality of clothing. Later, I got to stay in my hometown for an year and we had planned for a world tour. Then, we literally covered all the shops for the western wear but I wasn’t satisfied with the collections there. I got to visit PANTALOONS finally wherein I could get my exact fit and great collection. All my collection for the tour are of PANTALOONS and I could literally feel the difference in quality from other branded clothing. It was my boyfriend’s birthday week and I’ve decided to gift him a shirt. The only brand which I could think of is PETER ENGLAND as it is budget and quality friendly. I’m currently pursuing PGDM from GIM and formal wear is a bare necessity, so I could only think of brands like ALLEN
SOLLY and VAN HEUSEN because of fitting, quality. All these brands which I am emotionally connected to are subsidiaries of ADITYA BIRLA GROUP. These brands could survive in India as they are affordable and most of the population here is medium class. I am aware of the standard of living and this is why ABG is big in my life.
I had worked extremely hard for an year to get into tier 1 Bschool last year but I couldn’t make it and this got few setbacks in my life. Coming back strong from that debacle was my biggest challenge and I have explored myself more and the loopholes in my preparation. At that time I came across a famous quote by Swami Vivekananda “Ignorance is the mother of Evil” and this moved me a lot. I stopped procrastinating things and started prioritizing tasks, this little change had a profound impact on my performance. I prepared for CAT exam this year with proper planning and hard work, I converted all the interview calls and made it to GOA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT. These challenges which I have overcome during my preparation for MBA made a strong impact and everything seem possible to me now. I strongly believe that challenges are just the roadblocks of life and one can overcome these with vision and planning. Marriage was another big challenge I’ve faced from my family. Hailing from middle class and orthodox family, my parents were extremely supportive since childhood but they were extremely cautious of my life after graduation and wanted me to get married prior to MBA. Convincing them was the biggest challenge and I feel proud for what I have done in overcoming that. I had overcome it by explaining them the struggle which I had undergone to this point of my life and clearly explained the repercussions of marriage prior to MBA. They are extremely happy with my decision now and I still have lots in store for the rest of my life. This is how I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
